MANSFIELD, Texas -
A burglar made off with thousands of dollars of valuable coins. Now the store's owner is offering a reward to anyone who recognizes the thief and can help police catch him.
Tim Levasseur said he was in a hurry Saturday evening. He put his most valuable coins in a safe.
"But this case here is the only one I didn't lock up because I was late taking my wife out to dinner for the first time in three months. And you don't want to be late taking your wife out to dinner," he said.
During dinner he got an alert. Someone was breaking into his business in the 2000 block of Highway 157 in Mansfield.
Surveillance video shows a man smashing the glass display cases and stuffing boxes into his sweatshirt.
"I got mad. I flew over here. Saw my stuff smashed all over the floor. Very disheartening," Levasseur said.
The burglar mostly got away with pure silver commemorative coins worth $30 to $100.
Levasseur said he doesn't recognize the man in the surveillance video.
"I've looked at that face a hundred times and that hair. I don't think I've ever seen him before but the person in the truck knew my store extremely well. I guarantee they knew what they were doing," he said.
He understands he'll likely never see his money again.
He's still taking extra precautions like adding cameras and installing bars on the front of the store. And he's willing to spend an extra $5,000 on a reward to flush out the suspects.
"Hopefully he won't do this to someone else. He needs to be caught, him and his partner," Levasseur said.

i was really hoping it was one of those videos where they botch the robbery by cutting themselves severely on the glass or falling through the ceiling landing on their back on top of a chair or something. some of my favorite type of videos to watch of video hosting sites.

Then if the thief was injured or permanently disabled he could get a good tort attorney and sue the bejeebers out of the store owner. Not right, but true.
It takes a real piece of work or a very desparate person to "burglarize" in such a way.
