Probstein, I'm pretty sure this card is not Genuine

I tried emailing Rick twice about this card, so I figured I might be able to get through to him here. He has a 1998 Flair Showcase Row 0 Legacy of Derek Jeter for auction that I think is fake. I am not positive about this information, but I have found a few people to confirm the story, and if anyone here has any further information or is sure that I am wrong about this, I would be interested in hearing it. I have a few links below to information that I came across when I purchased a few 98 Row 0 Legacies. Basically it says that some sheets of Row 0 Legacies were stolen from the factory and sold as genuine. These stolen cards had been taken before they were completed and are identified by the lack of the finished glossy layer on the front side and missing blue script of the players name on the reverse side. Here is the Jeter that I believe is "fake"
Jeter
and here is a 98 Flair Row 0 Legacy that is genuine
Ripken
Here are a couple links that I have found on the topic

<< <i>I don't see anything wrong with that Jerek Deter?
I have to agree with you as I see nothing wrong with this card. Is there something we are missing?
<< <i> missing blue script of the players name on the reverse side >>
Is the main concern with this card. It's hard not to notice when shown with the Ripken
Compare No blue foil with this PSA Blue Foil

<< <i>what's missing is the blue foil player name on the back of the card.... Ripken has a foil name on back.... Jeter does not... and the numbering is in a different location as well.... >>
Ahh I see...I obviously missed that part. Thanks for the correction.
<< <i>Just the questionable nature of it would make me pull the auction. I'd send it in and get it graded and roll with the result of what PSA says. >>
Well most likely it's being sold on consignment so pulling it is really the only option right now. The owner would have to make the call on getting it graded.

No need to send in the Jeter. In is unquestionably not a Fleer issued card.
Notice that there is no name on the back. I've not heard of this occurring with this set.
Notice the letter "O" and the number "0". They are the same! Compare with the Ripken card. They are different there, as they should be.
I will research and contact the winner....if there is a problem with the card then we will let the winning buyer know prior to shipping....
thanks for the fyi....

On the fake, notice that "91 OF 100" is perfectly alligned. On the real, they aren't.
I haven't been able to find my 1998's, but I found my 1997's. On those the number and the "OF 100" part are *NEVER* perfectly alligned, though frequently very close. It is very clear that the labling on the real card is a two step process. It isn't this way on the fake.

<< <i>Is this the same year Flair Showcase cards that had some "backdoored" cards that had purple in place of the blue script? I think I have a Chipper Jones card here somewhere that is printed with purple ink.

From what I remember, these were print errors. The 1 of 1 cards were purple. Some were printed with the purple. I have one somewhere.
I'm not sure if this was 1998 or not.
