I'll spend 350 bucks on a card like this ALL DAY LONG!!!

I was a hard core collector back 12+ years ago and I've seen a lot of vintage cards at shows, etc. This '55 Mays I just bought from a very respected dealer that I've known for many years is just plain incredible! I can remember like it was yesterday when cards of this condition caliber would grade out at NM 7 at least. Now is such a great time to buy these little cardboard treasures.

  • Nice looking 5 but most likely has a surface crease that would keep it from ever grading a 7. But if you are happy that's all that matters.

    Great card.

Card presents very well. HOWEVER, with those corners (especially upper right and lower left) there is no way that card ends up in a "PSA 7" slab, IMO. But like I said ... a nice looking card. A "6" has a VCP of $318.00, so I think you paid a fair price.

Gorgeous card and VERY difficult to find centered.

    "Molon Labe"

  • I dont think that card is that great centering is not the best. It has a tilt and its not a slight tilt either. you over paid big time if that card is $318.00 VCP for a 6

I think for a 5 it has nice centering and eye appeal. And I don't think the tilt is really that bad. The only issue is probably what the buyer paid. It might have been a bit on the high end for the grade. Still a nice card for the grade.

Great card, it looks beautiful to my eyes. Congrats on your purchase.
2.5 is pretty much my speed.
  • to me any card with a tilt is not a good card. except maybe a 52 mantle nearly every one has a tilt. but a card like this with that tilt has no eye appeal to me but that is just my 2 cents worth

Apples and oranges. Comparing centering between a card graded a 5 and a card graded a 9 is kind of pointless. The 9 should be better in every way. And can you please learn how to add links. It's really not that hard!

Awesome looking card. Enjoy! The 2 cards price wise are miles apart. For eye appeal for me they are pretty close.

That card is very nicely centered for the issue, and is NOT "badly tilted." LOL -- those who would think so remind me of the type of person who would see a PSA 9 blazer in a dealer's case, would fall prey to their collector's temptation, be very, very generous, and offer "HIGH BECKETT" for it without a quibble! image

FWIW, looks like the grade limiting flaw is a slight water/very, very light stain, on the left edge of the back. Most noticeable near the card #. Presents beautifully for a 5, and I'd be proud to have it in my set. image
