Do you have to pay the variety attribution fee for Accented Hair Kennedy Halves?
I had some holdered in the past, but can't remember, and no clear answer found on the website.

i think the easiest way to know "besides asking someone" is to check the price guide. if there is a pcgs number visible i think it means they attribute it without the fee

Yes and no. I know with an answer like that, you think I'm running for politics
But here is the skinny:
If you use PCGS number 6801 and just have "Accented Hair" on the label, then just pay grading fees.
If you use PCGS number 145625 and want the label to have "FS-401" plus "Accented Hair" then pony up the extra $24 for attribution.

Actually what Caleb says and use the coin number look up. Several well known varieties abound in the "regular price schedule" set of coins. Just check in the coin number look up. What one will be missing on the label is the variety numbering system info, although they generally have the written variety description.
how's that?

That was my thinking at first, then I saw where it states the VA fee is charged for coins listed in the Cherrypickers Guide, and the Accented Hair is in there.

I don't remember paying a fee in the past. Just wanted to make sure nothing has changed with the addition of the CPG varieties.
I don't really need the FS-401 number on the slab, so I'll keep the $24

<< <i>If you check my "Showcase" set out in my sig line, you will notice several 1964 Accented hair coins listed, on my limited budget, I couldn't afford to pay all of those attribution fees so I jsut have them graded using the 6801 number.
forgive my lack of eloquence and verbiage, but holy crap dude. that group of kennedys is something else. thanks for sharing

Helps to start young think he was looking for the varieties when he was four or so. Used to have to have dad do the log on to the forum.

Syl,
I was eight when we started collecting Kennedy half dollars, ten before I started with the varieties. Upgrades for the basic set are just too far and few in between, the varieties and error side of the series has kept it interesting

Boy this is so true seems the TOP POPs have been set into stone for the last seven years or so.
And yes I knew you were a little older but not many of us have spent almost half our lives studying one series of coins.

You mean that there are other series
I have to admit that I've been eyeballing the old mans early comm
