1792 Eagle Copper?

The picture heavily worn piece was part of a group of super worn coppers dug in the U.S (east coast, I believe) and this piece has by far been the most puzzling-- but I keep wondering if this could be some early 1792 Wright pattern. SIZE: same diameter of a 1793 flowing hair half cent...at first I thought it was your garden variety Charles II or some such British farthing, but is clearly just a bit smaller ...weight-wise, slightly lighter than a 1793 half cent (weighed it at a coin show)....OBV: Some kind of shadowy creature with congruous drum-stick like legs, a craned neck (to the left) and a hint of wings; appears to be standing on a small mound.....REV: two deliberate circular punch indentions obscure any design, if there was one-- possibly deliberately defaced as a trial pattern?.....

POSSIBILITIES: I have ruled out British farthing (though perhaps not Conder farthing, though have yet to see a conder farthing depicting an eagle-type creature in like position), as well as anything French, Spanish or Dutch (the types of coppers most likely to have come over to early America). I have ruled out 1793 half cent as standing bird-like figure in no way resembles that piece. I have also ruled out this being a button as it is too dense, too heavy (or perhaps I have just never seen a button that dense or heavy).

POSSIBILITY I CANNOT RULE OUT: some sort of obscure 18th to early 19th century British or American copper medalet.

WHAT IT DOES RESEMBLE: I know it's worn, but to me resembles a scaled-down 1792 Wright Quarter. As Wright ALSO designed the 1793 half cent, might he have also been experimenting with his 1792 quarter design being employed on the half cent? Or was he trying out a 1792 Disme? So....there you have it. I say I have a rare early U.S trial copper. But I would be happy to hear from anyone who says "What you obviously have is an 1826 erie canal copper token" or what have you.

Unfortunately.. after uploading the obv and rev. pics, I hit attach on each file and nothing happens. So someday when I find out why nothing happenes when I try to load pictures, I guess you'll just have to take my word for it.
