2012 Topps/ Topps Chrome Baseball

Hi all..... Been a long time member, fairly infrequent poster.
However, I'd like some help. I have a 13 year old son that recently has shown interest in collecting baseball cards (even though I only collect football) . I am looking to buy him a box of either 2012 topps (either series) or topps chrome. Can someone tell me the best place (pricewise) to buy the boxes? I assume the hobby box is still the one to get?
The cheapest I see on ebay are about $75 for chrome? Anyone have any suggestions to offer for me?
