eBay's new "Setify" feature

Just got this email:

"Congratulations!
You've been selected to try out an eBay tool we're building especially for collectors."

http://www.ebay.com/setify

Anyone have any experience with this?

Wow, this is pretty interesting and sort of a natural move for them.

my experience is limited to immediately deleting the email.

I find it increasingly difficult to believe ebay is going to send me some information that I can actually use.
I use ebay, but don't care to receive "news" from them

I'm special! I got one too!
I used to be somebody, now I'm just a coin collector.
Recipient of the coveted "You Suck" award, April 2009 for cherrypicking a 1833 CBHD LM-5, and April 2022 for a 1835 LM-12, and again in Aug 2012 for picking off a 1952 FS-902.

Yup, I got one one too.

"Subject: Our invitation to elite collectors. "

UHoh, what's this? I'm about as far from an elite collector there is.

    "Search
Find items you have or want for your collection.

    Manage
Tag items you own, or want to add to your collection.

    Share
Show off your collection to your friends in the eBay community."

Just more personal info for ebay to collect about me and use to try and sell me stuff. Yawn.

I deleted it, too, but not without one of the voices in my head uttering a loud "HA!" first.

Pretty much just a marketing tool, and a way to "show off what you have" to the wrong people, who might pay you a little visit to see your stuff in person when you aren't around. No thanks.

Like the others here, I also received the eBay email, and like Barndog I deleted it immediately. They will have a hard sell, in my opinion, with 'elite' collectors (whatever that means) trying to convince me that they can offer me anything that will actually benefit me. Listing my collection with them (the contents of my SDB, as Bronco2078 aptly stated) runs a significant security risk, and one that I certainly do not wish to take. Thanks but no thanks.

I wouldn't want to showcase my collection on eBay, but I can see using this as a want list.

It's usually something about how they have re-invented the wheel, I never look.

Ebay should leave things alone. I'm now paying them via paypal shipping to insure my USPS shipments. Hard enough dealing with the post office. Now I have them dealing with post office claims on my behalf. Nothing like a middle man in the picture.

Sounds to me like eBay's version of a registry, with the added benefit of being able to find what you still need?
