1886-S NGC AU58 PL CAC'd Morgan

Morgan NGC AU58 PL CAC

A coin I would buy, but PCGS doesn't give PL to AU58 Coins Also I already have the only AU58+ for 86-S

Either way, its a nice coin.

I do believe for Morgans PCGS gives out PL and DMPL designations for AU58.
  • Unfortunately, they don't. Already had this discussion with them. They consider any AU58 PL or DMPL as a mechanical Error.

A few have made it out but I believe on a prior thread they said they were mechanical errors.

Yes, I believe they do too... There is just no way to check the populations because so few have been certified.

I've seen both PCGS and NGC "AU55PL" designations, and, if my memory serves me right, many moons ago, I spotted an AU53PL (can't remember if it was PCGS or NGC) in a dealer's online inventory.

I'll be watching this eBay auction. I'm curious to see if the condition rarity will command any substantial premium.

    ????

They are in the pops, not hard to check but even once when I asked DH if they did them he told me he didn't think so. That was after an 1891 got an AU58 about 2 years ago. NGC and ANACS have no problem with AU PL's.

Oh, wow. I guess you're right.

I swear the last time I checked (maybe a couple of years ago), CoinFacts didn't provide any info on "AUxxPL" coins.

Well, that's good to know! Thanks, Todd! image
