Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

What Chris has forgotten about the hobby, I'd have to learn.
He also had other areas of expertise like music.
Here's a pic from his blog when he was young.
I've talked to him many times about the hobby - although he couldn't afford to buy anything big/high end - it never kept him from being excited about what people collected.
Good bye my friend. This had been a sad weekend for me.
Your post above was said very well. I'm sorry you lost your friend at such an early age. I never knew him, but from what others have said here, I'm sure he was a great Guy. Sorry I never had the pleasure...
Paul.
Later, Paul.
I met Chris about 10 years ago, and we'd see each other at the National, as well as in Florida when I was out there. And almost daily on another message board.
He was passionate about his hobby and music, both of which he tied in with his passion for writing. Despite calling himself a self professed know it all, he was always open to corrections and alternate points of view to his writings, and always made note of those differing opinions on follow up articles.
Besides his blogs and website he had articles appear in Old Cardboard and Collector magazine. The last few years you would've seen Chris helping out Irv Lerner (the ring man) at his booth at the National, and he was a long time member of OBC.
Chris leaves behind his 14 year old daughter, and literally hundreds of friends.
Knowing Chris, he would want nothing more than for people to take a look at some of his work- his hobby website and
'73 Topps website
And his music websites- the '70's one is one of my favorites.
'70's music mayhem
'80s music mayhem
Chris' profile on his site says it best: " Vintage Sportscard Specialist, 1970s music enthusiast, freelance writer, a self-professed know-it-all and an all-around nice guy."
RIP Chris, and deepest condolences to Melissa.
Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's
Chris was one of the good guys in the hobby. He will be missed.
39 is way too young.
