PayPal can bite my A**!!! Anybody use Google check out?

It's been an interesting couple of weeks dealing with Paypal's BS. I've got two accounts and two good stories.

Account #1- I've had it open for a few months and used it on the side too buy/sell/repair Xbox's to and for people. There's been a ton of heavy use. Last weekend the account was limited by Paypal. After about 4-5 hours spent on the phone with them and gathering information for them the limits were released. I had no problem with them looking into the security of the account....I'd rather have them be more careful with my accounts than not. However, today I received a message that the account now has a permanant limitation. After about another 20-30 minutes on the phone I was told this was because of the type of business, that it was permanant, and that it would not be lifted. I was also told that the $600+ sitting in the account could not be touched for 180 days. When I complained about that I was told it was part of my terms of agreement that I o.k.'d when opening the account. Shame on me for not checking, but that still seems like a load of bull!

Account #2- I've had this one open for years and use it mainly for buying/selling cards. So about 6 weeks ago I buyer placed a note of cards wanted as an invoice basically but also marked it as a gift when he sent the money. I never even realized this until last week when I was on the phone with Paypal. Long story short the "gift" flagged the transaction as a security defect and Paypal reversed the transaction. I gave them all the info as far as a delivery confirmation etc. The buyer not only never complained, according to Paypal he never replied to the case whatsoever when it was PAYPAL that opened it. The buyer claims he's never talked to anyone at Paypal about anything. But of course, now that he's been refuned $225. for items he received and was pleased with he is not replying to anything.

Any of you guys ever deal with Google checkout? What do you think of it?

PayPal is not the only game in town.

If you do a decent amount of business every month look into Costco's credit card processing. Some recent changes in the law have lowered the rates way under 2% even for non-swiped transactions. If you are doing a decent amount of Xbox business you should be fine.

If you don't have that many CC transactions check out Square. 2.75% for swiped transactions no minimums, no fees, free card reader (required an iPhone/iPad, or Android phone/tablet.

  • Thanks for the ideas. I will investigate both!
