population 2 means for that grade
there could be many higher graded or none and the same with lower.
check the pop reports for all grading services, vam registry etc.
a little leg work need be done for most coins to asses the status of census
edited to add, the 1B6 appears to be the most common of the thorn heads
i haven't checked the pops so i don't know if it is a big deal or not

Your Thornhead is very nice. Without digging, what is the top population on them in PCGS?

I don't know, I don't seem to have access to the Pop reports anymore
here are the figures ATS - that still leaves VSS, ANACS, SEGS, PCGS, RAW
these figures may or may not be accurate from crack-outs/re-subs etc.
1921 S Vam 1B6 - 16 graded with 9 in unc from 61-63
1b2 through 1b5 from ATS pops with less than 5 for each

pcgs, ngc and anacs are all public "free pop report databases"
and just in case someone says you have to have an account before viewing their pops, the membership is free, hence the database as well.
