while a lot of information about the number of dies used may be debatable, from that information one can still find very useful strategies to use to thwart purchasing counterfeits/authentication
tyvm!
edited to add. when very few dies are used for either the obv or rev, it can be just enough to authenticate from one side.

updated first post a bit

<< <i>A great idea here. Just a little to advanced for most of us greenhorns
hehe. i am asking for some of the information so that puts me in the greenhorn category as well :-)
It is to serve an end goal, and that goal is to streamline images for authentication.
I notice I spend too much time authenticating some coins and this can significantly be reduced by having images for certain parts of the coin(s) from ALL the known marriages and if a coin in question doesn't match, it will be 99.99% a counterfeit based on the known die pairing information.
Just attempting to be more efficient, professional and accurate you could say.
I'm going to be doing the hard part but will share my findings but I just need some assistance along the way.

tyvm Ikeigwin and RWB. Information like that will go a long way. I'll also start digging on work that others have done so as not to re-invent the wheel so to speak.

Congratz to Bob for being named Numismatist of the Year

Sorry not trying to take this off topic at all
All of the coins he listed were low mintage!
<< <i>All of the coins he listed were low mintage!
on that subject. from the info RWB provided, it makes one wonder about some future over-zealously ambitious goals!
