1963 Kennedy Proof Set

yessir, you heard it here first!

I saw this earlier today. I went to contact him to let him know of his error but was given a message akin to "due to the high volume of messages this seller cannot respond to you"

I was shocked that, 8 or so hours later, his listing is still there with no correction made to the title. image

Does it really matter? they are both worth the same. I'm sure it's a typo.

we need to not kill every seller out there.

If it's sealed it was done post Mint as these were not sealed prior to shipping from the Mint.

Every single one of my 57-65 sets were never sealed and I can tell as the glue is still in tact.

He must think that because Kennedy was assassinated in 63 that the Kennedy half is in the 63 proof set.

    ***EDIT***

Was going to ask a question about this and this is what I found when I clicked the ask question link:

I certainly don't want to kill every seller out there. I just thought, because the seller ID is "Savoncoin", he would know better..... I tried to help him out but couldn't leave a message

The fact that he still hasn't caught his mistake makes it even worse. I know typos occur but a "coin" seller has to take the time to preview his listing for accuracy or at least go back after

the listing has been placed and review it as if he were the customer. That's just good business and customer service combined. If you know the seller give him a call. I'm sure he'd appreciate it.

Have you ever opened un unopened box of proof sets from the mint????

For if you had, you would rewrite your statement...with the exception of 1965 SMS sets, which were not sealed from the mint.

ALL 1950-1964 proof sets were sealed from the mint. The 1950-55 boxes and 1955-1964 flat packs.

Please spread the truth, not rumors with no fact based backing.

Totally Agree with James, get your facts straight before accusing a seller of anything!!!
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

    I am stating fact.

All of the 57-65 sets from the Mint, which I, and numerous other collectors I deal with, received those sets in unsealed envelopes directly from the Mint.

If the envelopes are sealed, it is due to two factors:

    1. Someone sealed them after they were shipped and received from the Mint.

    2. They were stored where the humidity is high enough to soften the glue on the envelope flap, causing the flap to adhere to the body of the envelope.

As I stated, advertising the envelopes as sealed, or sealed by the Mint, is a prevarication, and not accurate at all.

The seller is Joel Rettew. Does the name ring any bells? He is a highly respected dealer and probably has a number of people working at his company and likely people who specialize in eBay sales. I would even be willing to bet he doesn't spend a lot of time reviewing such mundane ads. It's mistake ... an obvious mistake ... give him a break.

Anyway, how does he know there is a Kennedy in that 1963 proof set if it is sealed?

I am suspicious of this guy.image
