2012 S Mint Circulating ATB Quarters - mintage

I cannot seem to find the article that details the information around this. I thought the mintage was going to be like 250,000 or something like that.

Does anyone know the exact number?

El Yunque looks to be about 1.5 million so far, the others somewhat less. All are still on sale, although the El Yunque is listed as backordered.

I find the idea of 2012 s mint quarters to be pretty neat. It doesn't appear too popular though (at least on the forums). I can remember a few years ago when others wished for more circulating s-mint coinage (well, business strike coins of circulating coinage).

The lack of popularity is because the 2012 "S" unc. quarters are considered to be "novelty" coins, issued in the middle of a series as kind of an afterthought. As of now, albums do not provide spaces for them, they aren't included in the annual Mint Sets, and no one knows whether 2013 or later date "S" coins will be offered. The ATB series is much less popular than the state quarters were, and the arbitrary addition of "S" circulation strikes disrupts the series' uniformity while doing little to boost its popularity.
