eBay's new "Search Results" page design - My complaint with eBay/the scoop on what is goin

Like many others here, I too have suddenly started seeing the "new" look on ebay when searching for items. I hate it. It's VERY distracting and "noisy" to view with lots of needless graphics and info and ads. I called their Customer Service this AM and this is what I was told......

1) This is a test involving 7% of their users (lucky me!)

2) It will last approx. 3 weeks

3) There is no way to opt out of the new design at this point

4) They are receiving, in the rep's words, "A LOT" of complaints about this new look

I registered my complaint, thanked her for her time, and informed her to include in the complaint that I won't use it and will do my business elsewhere if they adopt it.

If you DO NOT like the new look, the time to call is right now. Go to eBay, hit the "contact us" button and get the phone number and a pin to call them. The whole thing took me less than 5 mins. If you do like it, or don't care, do nothing.

Just FYI

Under items, such as coins I don't see the changes, but under some items, such as iPhones, I do.

Once you learn how to navigate the pages and set them up to your personal preference, it is a breeze. Very low learning curve.

Perhaps like many changes in life it is resisted at first. I think though, once you have implemented the way you want to view eBay pages, you will be set and enjoy the experience more.

Hmmm, I see a few problems here, one, you think you matter to them, and two, you seem to not have understood the first point.

I am also not a huge fan of Ebay, although I have sold quite a few coins there, they arent in business with me, I am in business in spite of them.

Actually, I am well aware of point number one image However, I also am old enough to remember a company that thought they were too big and too established to care about the individual consumer's preferences and could dictate terms to the market. "New Coke" darn near took Coca-Cola under until they realized we like our "Classic" Coke just fine. Seems to me that company is doing quite well with their original formula.

Whether eBay gets my few thousand bucks a year won't change their bottom line. Multiply me by a few thousand users and it starts to add up. We all have tons of options for selling and eBay has been one of them. I personally continue to use it, despite the rising fees, because of its broad reach.

I felt it was useful to share here that there is a "test" going on and apparently, according to the rep, "A LOT" of people seemingly don't like it. So, why not spread the word to others who don't like it that now is the time to speak up rather than simply stop using the platform or watch your sales drop because the silent majority just moves on to other venues.

In any event, I am well aware I don't matter to them. This is why I believe I am a better business person than they are. To me, every single customer is critically important to me.

As said in the OP, if you like the new look or don't care, don't do a thing. If you don't like it, now is the time to let them know.

I've voiced my concerns as well from the standpoint of a buyer. The reason I chose buyer and
not seller POV is that I think they would pay more attention. Losing buyers should be their
    first concern.

Searching a category with just a negative sign (like -dollar) does not work.

Looking for Men's athletic shoes -Jordon does not work.

Large format for results is too big. Slows down my searching and thus adds to frustration
of the new format. Might be tempted to shop elsewhere if I can no longer see 5 or 6 auction
per page. Large format is 2-3 auctions per page. As a buyer I'd go elsewhere to a more
    friendly site.

Perhaps they will hear and listen.

    Perhaps not.

Couple of points... To claim you are a better at business than eBay is quite a bold claim.
To ask those who enjoy the upgrades in performance to do nothing is like asking those who don't support our president for re-election to do nothing.

eBay deserves praise for improving their site.

You were right though about Coke. Their new formula was too sweet.

Oh man, if they stop supporting Boolean arguments in their search strings I may lose my mind. I filter so many keywords out of my search for "clips" that if I had to include them, I'd never find anything to bid on.

Unfortunately, they know you are bluffing because there is no competitor up and running. And if you say "yes there is" I counter with "not in Ebay's eyes." --Jerry

And some moron actually got paid to create this mess. And then if it doesn't fly eBay will pay again to fix it

I guess I am not the lucky 7%. I don't see any new look.
