Does eBay feedback really reflect who you are or what others think of you?

Just wanted to hear the boards thoughts on this subject as we have read a few positives and negative outcomes...

Thanks for your constructive comments and kind thoughts in advance!

feedback is cool if you're a rock guitarist. chicks dig it.

a friendly pat on the back is nice, but there's always someone out there who'd prefer to leave fingerprints on your sunburn.
  • I think this is an excellent question. I also think this question should be answered by buyers, as sellers will tend to rationalize to back their selling attitudes.

The most important thing to me when I am buying and looking at feedback is am I ever going to receive this item after I pay for it?
99 times out of 100, I am. Just show me a little history of selling.

2nd, What if there is a problem, will the seller properly take care of the problem or will I have to go thru the Ebay & Paypal process? I can tell this by reading negitive feedback. When I do read negitive feedback, I do take into consideration who it's coming from and their feedback!

3rd, If it is not a graded card, what does their feedback say about item as described? I of course, check the stars also.

4th, Shipping time, not all that important but there has been times when I am deciding between 2 cards & if one seller is a slow shipper, I will buy the other.

5th, Attitude, and that's not just from feedback, I gather that also from the entire listing. If you check my current set in the registry, over in the comment field I place where or whom I purchased the card. You will notice I buy alot from one seller. I have paid in some instances, over $100 VCP from this seller. I do so because he treats me very well, always returning my phone calls, working with me any way he can, ships superfast at no charge. Point being attitude can make a big difference!

This is my opinion, I hope it helps!image

Problem with ebay FB is at first glance, you either only see numbers or percentage and depending on how you think, you might be swayed the wrong way.

For instance, if you go by FB, then what about the seller with 10k FB, but 1 out of every 50 has a neg? He still has 98%, but do you want to take a chance with that many negs?

Another example, what if a seller with 10k perfect FB, doesnt list for a few months, then starts selling again and he draws one of the idiot buyers who neg because he charged $2.95 for shipping when it only cost him $2.94. He then has a low percentage because percentage is only based on the last year and if you use that as your determining factor, you pass on him thinking he is a bad seller.

And the stars....thats a whole new level of stupidity.

And now ebay, is using the whole system to manipulate final value fees and discounts and so on. Its all ridiculous
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY
