Where to buy Bubble Mailers and Cardboard Inserts for mailing

Hey Guys,

Just about everyone on here knows where to get Card Saver I, II, III's (Columbia is the best IMO), but I need a little help with locating some good suppliers for bubble mailers and cardboard inserts. Over the last 90 days I have really ramped up my selling online and it is a royal pain to drive to the local packing store for supplies (not to mention that I'm getting ripped off).

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Also curious as to what standard sized bubble mailers and cardboard inserts you prefer to use when shipping non-graded individual cards (in CS I or Tallboys)

Since the OP mentioned it, I've been ordering my padded envelopes online for years now, but never thought about cardboard inserts. I currently sit and cut out cardboard boxes with scissors to make little sandwiches for the cards I sell. It would be easier to buy them already precut. Has anyone done this, and if so, where did you get them?

I browsed around the royal mailer site and didn't see them.

For raw cards in card savers or for single graded cards, I use a self adhesive 6"X9" bubble mailer. Once it goes up into multiple graded cards, I just keep going up size by size until they fit safely. The ebay shipping labels fit easily onto the mailers at this size. Some trimming may need to be done if you use the smaller ones.

    Thanks!
  • Have you tried Sams or cosco ?
  • Thanks for the info on bubble mailers. I placed an order with them this evening. However, I still can not locate the cardboard inserts. (I too am cutting up boxes by hand and it is really time consuming). Any help with a source for these would also be greatly appreciated.

Ok, I think they call them "chipboard" inserts. They are used in the photography industry when shipping photos etc; I found them at Uline.com.

    Here's the link:

The smallest they had seems to be 5"x7". But, they show overstock on the cases and I think there are 1000 in a case.

I'd be curious to find if there are smaller ones made because I'd be interested in those for sure.

For cardboard inserts, I save my boxes and cut up using a paper trimmer.

I wait and collect a bunch of boxes, mark in pencil the cuts I need and usually take an hour or two to do about a 6 month supply.

  • recycle everything cardboard. never paid a penny for a box i can cut into pieces. they're easy to find. as mentioned, you can spend a short period of time cutting up a long lasting supply.

also recycle every piece of bubble wrap. never paid for that, either.

every 3 or 4 months i go to Office Depot for a box of 6 X 9 catalog envelopes, so there's the expense. then, they send me coupons so i can save a little money on ink for my printer.

    it's a beautiful thing.
  • I got tired cutting cardboard and found a company that I have been happy with. I order three sizes of cardboard pads, for standard, tallboy and supersized.

They range from .12-.20 each depending on size and amount ordered, I have found them well worth it and just build it into my shipping cost. Plus as a collector its the way I like to receive my cards as they look very professional when opened.

    Sizes I order-
    3.5 x 5.5
    7.25 x 4.5
    6.5 x 10
