  • Good luck with this.....I think most of us can we say we've been screwed from time to time, but your case is one of the worst I've heard of. Please post his info as soon as you can. From my own experiences with Paypal you are screwed. Due to it being some sort of monopoly they have this sort of God complex and they like to show it. They will do what they want when they want to do it and with your money. Their customer service is rude, and they do not care whatsoever of the image they give off.

It may be years, but I can't wait for the day something else comes around and Paypal bites the dust....hopefully it will happen sometime in my lifetime anyway.
I'm a big Nolan Ryan fan OK???!!!
  • This is a very Bad Flaw with Paypal. I am sure people over on the coin forum have to be very careful infact I would recomend not taking people to those guys because what is going to stop some body for paying for a couple OZ of gold and then claim they received silver by mistake and then send back the silver to the seller keep the gold and get there money back. PAYPAL IS WORTHLESS !!!! when is comes to protecting the seller. I belive Buyer Fraud is 100X bigger then Seller Fraud on ebay. You dont see as many scammer sellers running around on ebay like you did in the early 2000's at that time they were everyware . Now I think its the buyer now that are taking advantage of the the way paypal is set up
  • If your a small seller on ebay its very risky. Ebay and paypal encourage buyer fraud. Ive had 3 scamming buyers just in the last month. Now paypal has frozen my funds so I am unable to sell.
  • www.escrow.com is the way to go atleast you are protected against charge backs claims

    3 weeks later and......

Any reply from the PO, Paypal, buyer?
  • The PO will not do anything for me. I can see their point, I paid them to deliver two boxes and they did just that. I have no claim against them. The police (what a friggin joke) say this is either a Paypal, postal, or civil matter. In other words, don't bother us. Of course the buyer does not return calls or emails, why should he, he stole my cards with the help of Paypal. Paypal of course ruled in his favor after he put in the claim. I was protected, or so I thought by "Paypal's Seller Protection" as I did everything required to qualify. Sent it out the same day as payment, used Paypal's shipping, and sent it with signature confirmation. They say they cannot cover me. So not only did they refund this scumbag his money, they did NOT refund me for their fees. I have been on the phone a few times this week still trying to get my account straightened out, I must be pretty naive thinking I'll get any help from them. I actually had a Paypal agent tell me this week after I asked how they can charge me fees for a transaction they refunded back to the buyer, they can do anything, we are Paypal. They need to come up with a solution to this kind of problem, it is way too easy for buyers to pull scams on sellers, especially when Paypal enables them like they do.
From what I can tell, 707 is the DOLLAR STORE compared to deans_cards. For what that guy charges, if I ever bought anything from him I would expect it to be delivered to me in a frickin' limo.

Why won't the Po do anything? As Jim (a Postal employee) wrote above:

<< <i>Whether they were delivered to a PO Box or delivered by a carrier, the person who delivered them will ABSOLUTELY remember them and will remember if they were heavy or empty. PM me the zip code where they were delivered, and I'll see if I can come up with some contact information. Call that office, and have them speak to either the carrier or the clerk that delivered them. The "delivered" scan will match to one person so it should be easy for them to find the right person.

Once that person verifies that they were heavy, you can advise your scammer that he can deal with postal fraud if he doesn't soon remember that the cards were there after all. >>

Did you contact Jim and take him up on his offer? If so, where is the roadblock happening on their action?

I am not a seller but I find this situation appalling. Does this mean that sellers are not in any way protected from punks doing this all day? There has to be some measure in place to protect honest sellers from being such easy prey. Hope this works out somehow. I hate it when a system fails like this.

In the scamming transaction that ran me off of eBay for good, I spoke to an eBay CS monkey. Not satisfied with his reply, I asked to speak to a supervisor.

"Sir, there is no one else for you to speak to."

"Are you the CEO of eBay?"

    "No, I am not."

"Great. You report to somebody. I'd like to speak to that person."

"Sir, there is no one else for you to speak to."

"Are you in charge of the call center you work at?"

    "No, I am not."

"Great. I'd like to speak to that person."

    ....

This went on for 10 minutes or so. I finally told him to really savor the $20 I lost. It was the last money eBay would EVER get from me. And then I hung up.

There's a reason they've been steadily losing market share for the better part of ten years.

Tried that route, the buyer changed his story from empty boxes to boxes filled with bricks. I know quite a few workers at my local PO, they know the whole story and do not want to get involved. Bottom line, buyer knew how to work the system and with help from Paypal he won.

I'd send him a brick. Right through his window. For starters.

    earlier post---
"Buyer has already used the "empty box" claim with Paypal. A change in statement now would be a virtual admission of guilt."

So even after he changed his story to a box of bricks Paypal sides with him? I believe it but still un^#&@*(@believable.

Please post the ebay ID of the scammer.

I think I'd escalate it above my local PO and go here: Postal inspectors
With his change in story etc., I don't see how you wouldn't get some answers.

This makes me mad. I'm mad at the scammer, but furious at Paypal for allowing this to happen.

Oh my so sorry for your loss, we don't sell on paypal but we've got a few boxes of coins sitting and sitting, we've been listing them all just to bring traffic to our website. So someone can purchase a coin for say $5,000.00, claim the box is empty and we're fked? That's it?

I am surprised to see this thread still going. I thought for sure the seller would have been protected. I too would like to know the buyer so I can block them.
  • Guys, if he is still pursuing things, it doesn't help him to ID the guy and have some moron on here do something stupid.
