This is just painful. -- Finally refunded, two questions.

I recently bought this item off eBay: Link
I have a few other Mantle printing plates, including a couple from his playing days, so I thought I'd add this to the collection.
Well, this afternoon, the mail woman leaves this at my front door.

I slowly open the package praying that there is no damage, but....

It's time to email the seller I guess

Looking for Al Hrabosky and any OPC Dave Campbells (the ESPN guy)
i had something similar happen to me maybe 8-9 years ago... and what made it worse was that the seller indicated in his description that he
was retired from the post office..
but, he shipped a 3 foot in-store paperboard promotional item in a simple flat with no added packing or stiffening materials.... i come home one night to find this bent piece of cardboard on my front porch....
long story short... he refunded and didn't want the damaged item back... it hangs in my basement bathroom as a cautionary tale of how not to ship something...
my other story involves a bobblehead mailed in a large padded envelope... no original box.... no packing.... nothing..
shockingly it made it in one piece... go figure....
He asked me to sign the USPS insurance claims and fax them over to him, that was an ordeal.
Long story short, I am out $10 in shipping the thing back to him and still kind of pissed.
I have two questions:
1. Should I ask for my return shipping to be refunded?
2. Should I neg him?
Thanks guys,
Jason

I think now its too late since he refunded you. I dont think you should leave a neg since you guys already came to an agreement. Just chalk this one up as experience in case you come across a similar situation in the future.
i'd make it clear to the seller that this should be his responsibility if you haven't do so already.

<< <i>I forgo the $10 and simply neg him....."Poor Packing Caused Damage of Item; Out $10 for Return" or something along those lines.....Other buyers need to be warned that he/she took so little care...

I'd first ask him for the $10.00. Don't make a big deal about it. If he says OK, then you are made whole. If he says no, I would not respond and then I'd go the above route.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
Future buyers should be warned that the dude doesn't care to take the time and properly package the items he sends out.

Thanks for the refund, your printing plate went out yesterday. The return shipping cost me $10. Next time be more careful when shipping.
