PSA - Thanks for an Unbelieveably Quick Turnaround

Sent in a fairly large order (for me) to PSA. I used their monthly special which was at the 45 day service level. They logged the cards in on 9/5 and the grades popped on 9/13 with the cards arriving at my house on Saturday. Needless to say I was very impressed with the speed of service, never heard of or seen that turnaround before. The grades were ok, I thought some of the 74's and 76-78's would come back higher. I'm still new to this grading thing and I definitely have some learning to do. I did learn it seems they are much harder on 70's and 80's cards than pre 1970, or else I missed some obvious flaws. Here are the grades that came back.

You are either pulling our leg or being very modest. That is a great sub. 8's on HOF's is awesome....especially in the early 60's. Nice 9 on the 68 Rose. Please show some scans. Love the 61 Yaz. Welcome to the boards.

I dropped off a very large sub of 1400+ cards at white plains. It was broken into two roughly 700 card orders and one of them popped last week. I was very happy with the turnaround. It will be interesting to see what the turnaround is on the other half, turned it at the same time for the same service level.

Nice submission.

I am a bit confused though - are you saying PSA graded the cards and got them sent back off in just 5-6 business days? I recently did a 45-day sub and the worker told me it is pretty much a minimum of 45 business days right now as they are swamped.

When did you send your order off approx. if you don't mind letting us know?

So from the date they logged them as received to the date the grades popped it was 7 business days (if you count the received day as 1). I was shocked at the turnaround time but very pleased. This was only my 3rd PSA submission since I joined in June and the other two were right on the estimated turnaround times.

Thanks for the reply. I have a CC submission and a bulk (45-day) submission both listed as being received on 9/12. It'll be interesting to see how long mine take.

I have a theory on why some of the 45 subs are getting quick poppage. I am guessing it is because PSA has hired some new graders, and the new graders are being assigned the low dollar 45 day subs. Therefore, the higher service levels are being backed up because they still need the experienced graders. However, the easy 45 days subs are getting fast poppage from the new graders. However, if you have a 45 day sub that is more complicated, that is w/ rarer issues that may need research, those will still go into the backup pile and take a while.

I don't believe this theory is accurate--I just had a 130-card sub consisting of about 100 75 minis and a few 72s and 73s (all commons) and it took nearly 40 business days.
