  • Counterstamp is from Azores. Many counterfeits of both the coin and counterstamp.

    Coin looks OK, edge should read in raised text : * JUSTICIA * * Y * * LIBERTAD *
    25 Grammes - silver 900/1000 - diameter 37mm

GP = Government Portuguese , used on 8 reales 18th century Mexican pillar dollars , I've never seen one, on a 5 peseta "modern"" spanish coin.

    * Amadeo I , an italian prince, invited to become King of Spain, after 2 years he returned to Italy saying: the spanish people are impossible to rule.

  • DCH and Andres nailed the ID, but unfortunately both (counterstamp and coin) are counterfeit, the major tell-tales are the lack of "smashing" on the counterstamp reverse and the crude shield on the coin.
In this particular forgery the counterstamp is probably on the die itself.
