Talk me out of the Negitive Feedback!!!!

FACTS: Let's start with the facts ma'am, nothing but the facts!

On Ebay, just recently (9/7/2012), I purchased a PSA 8.5 Niekro rookie. Under shipping information, it states will be shipped within 2 business days. Delivery says between 4 and 7 business days. By the way, the 7th was Friday.
On the 3rd business day, (Wednesday) which is actually the 5th day since the sale, I email and ask politely for the status since it does not show being shipped. The next day, Thursday, there is no response, but it shows shipped and a tracking number. OK!
Today, Friday, when I check the tracking number there is no information. Now this tracking number was entered early Thursday morning, so I would understand no info showing Thursday night, but not Friday.

MY OPINION:

It still hasn't been shipped, they just stuck a green tracking slip on & posted the number.

MY LUCK:

The seller only has 4 stars on Communication & Shipping time, but his more recent feedback shows he has been doing much better with shipping time. Why does he have to drop the ball with me? Why is it always me? Poor, Poor Mike!

WHY:

You ask why am I being a little inpatient about this paticular card? Because the photo is not great, often these 8.5's are centered nicer then their counterpart 9's, and much cheaper, and I want my Card!!!!! NOW!!!!!

  • I'd wait until you get the card in hand. If it matches the description, I would ding the stars hard on shipping time and communication, not leave a negative.
From what I can tell, 707 is the DOLLAR STORE compared to deans_cards. For what that guy charges, if I ever bought anything from him I would expect it to be delivered to me in a frickin' limo.

I agree. Wait until you get the card in hand and proceed from there. If it's just a case of delayed shipping/poor communication, I'd let that reflect in the DSRs and not with a negative.

    +1

Also, USPS tracking system often takes 1-2 days to update and show acceptance at PO facility. It is not always in real time.
Anyway, does it really matter if it's shipped Wednesday or Friday as long as it's shipped well and the card is as described?

if you are just using the ebay tracking info put it into the usps.com site as it is more up to date... for some reason I always have issues with the ebay one.

It has been five Business days. I wouldn't count Friday. Does anything show up on Tracking? If you give him 2 days to ship and 7 days delivery time that's the 20th before he really has caused you inconvenience.

From what you said seller's track record is not the best. I am betting you won't get the card much before the 20th.

I agreed to let a buyer send me a M.O. on an auction (bought from me previously) and he hasn't paid for over a week, I would like the money now but will try to be patient.

    Being patient $ucks!

    Good luck,

You sound like a brat. It hasnt even been a whole week. You seem to demand perfection and want it the second you bid.
    RELAX!
  • If the seller didn't want it come to this he shouldn't have started selling on eBay before shutting down his life, quitting his job, and leaving his family. It was also stupid of him to trust the item to the United States Postal Service, a entity that still uses modes of transportation not named The Millennium Falcon. Patience is important and all, but let us reserve it for softer sections of society. In a world of grown men collecting baseball cards there is no room for such pleasantries. You know who else was pleasant to deal with? Neville Chamberlain. Look up how well that ended.

    Neg Him.

I know that when we type our ideas onto a thread, our true feelings are often lost. A person can read the words and misinterpet, because they can not hear how the words are spoken, that is possible. This was not ment to be serious, and that's OK after my first entry. I enjoyed Vintage Investments posting a link from Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory of the sceen where that little girl Brat is singing "I want it now". That was funny!

But if you did not know that after the second entry....you need to work on your sense of humor!

Yes, I sound like a brat, that'e exactly what I was trying to sound like. So, thank you for the compliment!image

I'm wondering though, did you mean to sound like a dick-head? Because if you did, you did a great job of it! Congratulations!image

OP please post your eBay user ID so we can all block your dumbass.

You have no clue how the USPS tracking system works, half the time items do not get scanned as arrived or even at the first sorting facility and can get their first scan the day they are out for delivery.

If you are harassing the seller asking what is up within 5 days of paying for the item you need to go an f yourself.

WOW! A polite email is harassing a seller!

YOU, or your type, is that guy that sits behind a table at a show and gives you dirty looks if you ask a question about a product!

YOU are that store owner that's rude as can be to kids, espeacially if you are interupted from your 4th sandwich of the day!

YOU, are another one of those Ebay sellers that just doesn't get customer service! But I'm sure you would throw a fit if a customer bought an item and had not paid in 5 days with no communication!

YOU, are one of those sellers that at the first sign of a problem, no matter what, your first answer is "Block em". Block a customer that you could potentially make you lots of sale? Sales equall money! And you call me a dumbass!!!!!

I find it amusing how you just called him a dumbass based off things you completely made up. lol

Yeah, I was kind of on a roll, huh?
But I did not call him a dumbass, I just said "And you call me a dumbass".
And I didn't base that on the things I am taking an educated guess about, I base that on his attitude and blocking statement.
  • A couple things.

    1. The auction ended at almost midnight Friday.
    2. You conveniently left out the word "Estimated" that sits before the shipping statement.
    3. You have 27 feedback, probably never sold anything on eBay, and if "it always happens to poor Mike" and your sample size is two dozen transactions than you should be able to understand by now that a flying stork doesn't bring your item to you overnight. If you really can't wait 7-10 days for an item to arrive go to Wal-Mart to buy your cards and get instant gratification.
    4. You start a thread titled "Talk me out of Negative Feedback" on a forum that many power sellers call home and expect your original post to not be taken serious because of a later post that honestly doesn't have a coherent thought in it at all.

Sit patiently and when your card arrives leave the man positive feedback and five stars on everything. Why? Because we are grown freaking men who collect baseball cards. You get scammed? Leave a neg. Card never ships? Leave a neg. Card shows up a little late? Thank your maker that you can afford to spend you disposal income on cardboard pictures of dead and aging baseball players and then move on in life. I work with general public on a daily basis and you sound like the large percentage that gives it a bad name.
  • As long as you receive the item in the same condition, I do not feel you should leave Negitive feedback.

At the worst you should leave Neutral, for not shipping with in the time posted. AND Ding his stars.

If your feeling nice (CHRISTMAS IS COMMING, YOU SHOULD BE NICE) leave Positive, and really ding his stars. All ones sound good.

    Dave

Thank you Dave and everybody else for your input.

Let me say once again, I am not going to leave Negitive feedback for slow shipping. And his stars are so dinged already, it won't matter if I ding them again.

I do want to say one more thing though:

There are hundreds of great, customer oriented, fantastic Ebay sellers out there. We have many of them here on the forum and I want to thank all of them for making Ebay such a plesent experience.
    image

But I am always intrigued as to why some people want to stick up for less than stellar. I am on my 3rd Ebay account since the mid 1990's. Currently my feedback is only 27. My account before this one was a Power Seller account (ram0430) with over 1600 feedback. Before that, I took a few years off of buyer & selling and had another Power Selling account of over 2000 feedback. In this entire time, since the mid 1990's off & on, I have NEVER received 1 negitive or 1 Neutral feedback. For those of you that sell, you know how hard that is, some people will Neg you for almost anything.
In the early 1990's, I opened & owned Cards of Fame in Needles, Ca and later in New Orleans. I have set up at so many shows I can not count them all. In Jan of 1997, our store (family operated) was the only New Orleans store large enough to set up at the SuperBowl show. I have done 1/2 hour radio talk shows, been on our local news and have had a 5 colum story in the paper.
My point is, I do have a little bit of experience in this hobby. I strongly feel customer service in our field is seriously lacking overall. I am shocked at how often people (usually poor sellers) defend the practice of poor communication, slow shipping, and other bad practices.

As far as this situation with this seller, there is no situation. I am not going to Neg him, even though the tracking is still not showing anything. By the way, I purchased another card on the 8th, the day after buying this first one. I received that card Tuesday. Two different sellers, 2 different degrees of customer service!

You may not have received a negitive [sic] or neutral but your ram0430 account was suspended. I presume the other account you mentioned was also suspended. Care to explain why?
  • Yes, the last was suspended but the first was not. The following is what happened:

Before I start I want to say, knowing what I know now, I feel kind of foolish for not knowing better.

Back when I was involved in the business, there were regular NFL jerseys & the less expensive plastic numbered & named jerseys. No knockoff or counterfeits that I knew of.

So 3 seasons ago, a friend of mine tells me he can get a deal on NFL jerseys that were seconds. The company was DHGate and they accepted Paypal. I looked them up on line and thought that I could sell them at our local fleamarket and on Ebay. Now, I have always tried to watch for scams, so I thought to be safe, I would call Paypal and see what they had to say about this company. I did, & they told me they were the biggest overseas company that Paypal deals with. Thinking I was safe, I ended up buying & selling over 160 jerseys in just 2 months at the fleamarket only, November & December. I did not want to sell all year, too much work, I am retired. At the end of December, I had about 15 jerseys left over so I put them on Ebay and they sold, No problem.

The following season, I am going to do this again. but this time I'm going to sell more on Ebay. So, I get my jerseys, list them on Ebay and within a week, without any warning, I am completely suspended without any reason given. I called both Ebay & Paypal to try to get information what was going on. After over a month, I never found out.

Well, after telling my story to other people, I find out these are not 2nds, they are knockoffs and that is probably why Ebay suspended me. What I always found so strange about the whole ordeal is how somebody with Power Selling status would not receive any type of warning, phone call, nothing, just account suspended? Also, if you look on Ebay, you will find hundreds of these jerseys today?

One other time way back, I purchased a set of 52 Bowmans & broke it up to sell. I had all these listings & one day they were all gone. Do you know how long it takes to breakup & list a set! I find out they will not allow you to say you will accept checks & money orders! Just mentioning this because I thought about it when thinking about what I beleive is poor ebay decissions, doesn't really pertain to anything though.

So there it is! As I said at the beginning, knowing what I know now I feel I should have known they were knockoffs. I tried to do it the right way, but should have dug deeper. Live and learn!
  • That was an interesting thread to read. There were a whole lot of negative feelings and awful things typed, but maybe that's why I found it so interesting to read. Either way, I'd might as well add my thoughts....

I've never received a negative feedback or even a neutral one for that matter. I try my hardest to have things shipped by the next day at the latest, but I won't say I've never slipped and not shipped an item two days after it's been paid for. I don't promise to have everything shipped the next day, but I do want to keep my buyers happy and I feel it's my duty to send things ASAP.

With that being said, if I wait a week or even a week and a half to get something I do not "ding" anybody as long as I get what I receive and it is as expected. That's not saying I don't ever complain. The last time it took someone an extensive time to ship something to me I sent him a message asking what the deal was. It turned out that the seller had actually forgot to ship, and to make it up to me he shipped me extra cards to sort of make up for the problem. I was happier with what I received then I would've been had things arrived on time.

My point is this: I believe MOST people are not out to screw others and MOST sellers want you to be happy with what you buy. I would never leave a negative feedback for late shipping without first giving someone the benefit of the doubt. I know how busy life can be and perhaps a seller has had extreme circumstances happen in his/her life that have made a prompt shipment impossible.....I guess it just depends on the entire situation.

Doug, thank you for your input and well said. You are obviously one of those sellers I was speaking of when I said:
"There are hundreds of great, customer oriented, fantastic Ebay sellers out there. We have many of them here on the forum and I want to thank all of them for making Ebay such a plesent experience."

One of the things you said was "That's not saying I don't ever complain" regarding a week and a half of waiting caught my eye!
That's pretty much why I started this thread. A little bit complaining and a little bit of joking around about it. As I keep saying, I have NO intentions of giving this seller a NEGITIVE!
I am supprised that more people did not know I was somewhat making light of the subject. I mean I start my post with:

FACTS: Let's start with the facts ma'am, nothing but the facts!

That's suppose to sound like Joe Friday on Dragnet!!!

Than I go on about poor, poor Mike! Whay idiot would say that without joking? (And don't say me)
Ahd than "and I want my Card!!!!! NOW!!!!!

Is it just me or does this not sound like somebody joking?
One thing I was not joking about though was how people defend poor customer service.
In fact, the way SBFinley & BrendanB438 posted, they honestly beleive there is nothing wrong with "not communicating with a customer when you do not honor what they state in their auctions, and to ship basiclly when ever you feel like it!" Maybe one of them is who I bought the card from & I hit a nerve, I don't know! maybe!

One other thing, I am glad you read all of the post in this thread before commenting. I can tell by what some folks write, they do not do that before throwing their 2 cents in!
