and have read them constantly trashing anything that is not "PCGS/CAC only".

I'm sorry, but this is a falsehood. Legend sells plenty of NGC/CAC coins and doesn't trash them.

As far as the rest of the suggestions - thanks for all the input. I truly hadn't thought headers by denomination necessary for a small sale, but I'm sure they could be incorporated.

I was pretty surprised, for example the 39D merc in 69FB doesn't have a sticker, why not? You'd think someone would sticker that to get maximum value. I don't even like stickers but would get it done before I tried to sell it.

Probably a good bet to assume it was tried and failed - but you know what? All you have to do is ask to find out the answer.

The 1916/16 buff is in the wrong holder and it doesn't have a sticker. These are exactly the type of coins they tell people not to buy.

Any non doctored coin is a good buy at a certain level. Legend Morphy is rejecting doctored coins for consignment [unlike some firms - who don't even acknowledge a known doctored coin that is for sale]. Therefore, the market will determine what this significant coin is worth.

Do please note that an auction firm is completely different than a retail firm. To compare Legend's business model to Legend Morphy's is silly. However, both do operate under a full disclosure and anti coin doctoring philosophy.

Someone took one to many suck up pills today. Firstly, the thread was started asking for comments about the newest auction startup that had been hyped pretty heavily. If you don't want to see what people think climb in a hole somewhere until the auction is over. >>

Sorta makes me wish someone would start a coin doctoring rant to take the pressure off me.

  • I see a coin or two that I would bid on.

Laura has always been honest with me, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt right now.

    Today is the big day!!!
  • Good luck everyone! Think of this as an added bonus to the numismatic community.
  • Nothing for me, but my collecting is unusually focused.

It's good to see another auction house start up. I think having an alternative to Heritage/S&B/ and Goldberg's is good for the hobby.

From the Legend web site today:

"For the collectors protection we will ONLY sell them PCGS/CAC beaned coins. "

So please don't accuse me of spreading falsehoods, that accusation is not taken lightly.

I fail to see where that is written and it is verifiably not true since Legend sells plenty of NGC/CAC coins

I couldn't agree with this more. There absolutely needs to be something else out there. And I am really looking forward to a day when an ANA auction doesn't have a QDB firm or Heritage auction tied to it and I don't see that happening until there is a different choice which is able to do it. Not saying those are bad companies but ~25 years strong with one different (Superior) in the mix is getting a little monotonous. And boring.

Google that phrase and it'll give you a link to the Legend page that has it.

We're very much on the same page here. I was crestfallen when ANR merged with Stacks, then again when Stacks merged with Bowers. More choice and variety makes for a healthier hobby.

And BTW, welcome to the boards! image

    << <i>October 6th Report >>

That is pertaining to a very specific published want list in a market report. Also, since I am familiar with "Laura-speak", it appears to me she is emphasizing the CAC for collectors' protection (ie: these particular coins are on want lists as PCGS only and for protection Legend is adding the CAC distinction).

It is NOT Legend's corporate mission to only sell PCGS coins - even though it tends to gravitate that way. All you have to do is peruse the current inventory and past sales to see this is true.
