why marketing/self-advertising doesn't go over well here - an opinion or two offered

i have thought of a nice way to explain why some of us prefer not to be targeted for unsolicited marketing threads like this one. (the one that was deleted while making this post)

we see ourselves as high school girls, and the advertisers/self-marketers are the high school boys. need i say more.

it is slightly abusing the fact so many of us choose to come here with our experience and money and prefer not to have targets on us if that helps explain some of the severe reactions.

there is probably an appropriate place for advertising/self-marketing on this forum, this place not being it.

now if we choose to share sites and information with each other, that is another matter entirely.

that is my take on the subject anyway

I didn't see it that way at all. All I saw were beautiful coins that I would have never seen otherwise. I enjoyed viewing them, and appreciated the thread.

ya that is why i worded it as "some of us"

it will be hit-and-miss for those appreciate various threads with advertising/links etc and will be inconsistent in the reactions based on the information shared

like realone said in that post which resides elsewhere now, we need to strive to hold everyone to the same standard based on the forum rules

some see certain things as no big deal and others will be flat out frustrated.

my opinion is the more one contributes to this forum, they slight more leniency they may or may not receive BUT:

if someone just drops in at their convenience, and just starts violating with total disregard then extreme reactions are to be expected without them being a regular contributor/poster.

it is a kind of a want-something-for-nothing perspective, i hope others don't mind my lumping them in with this opinion

I also agree. I actually think it's nice to have a few more threads with beautiful coins than we currently have.

Yeah, many spam the forum. But, they have learned how to try and be Creative in how they do it. Rather than the one you mention that comes here once in a while with an in your face spam thread. It's all the same to me, but the more popular spam people, that try and be creative seem to be accepted with a spam thread/post.
