  • IMO, in baseball, Mordecai Brown or Edd Roush trumps Randy Johnson any day.image

  • Although I now see that you may have meant a player that played for an Indiana team and not just from Indiana.

No argument on football but as much as I like Reggie Miller, Mel Daniels won 3 ABA titles for Slick Leonard's Pacers. Daniels averaged 18/15 for his career. He won the Rookie of the Year, 2 ABA MVPs and was on 7 straight All Star teams.
  • Although i dont think they played in Indiana professionally, Larry Bird, Don Mattingly, Bob Griese and i think Gil Hodges were all from Indiana.
  • Hank Aaron played for the Indianapolis Clowns of the Negro League. And he's better than Randy Johnson. Just sayin'. image

Gotta go with Larry Bird by a longshot over Reggie Miller

Are you kidding me? Larry Bird is by far the best basketball player from Indiana. It's not even close. I think he is the second greatest ever behind Michael Jordan.
  • I got to know Bill Hodges, Larry Bird's coach at Indiana State, while I was in college. He coached the men's team at Georgia College and State University - Div II (then Georgia College - NAIA) while I was there. That man coached probably the most important basketball game in NCAA History. Undefeated in 1979 (33-0), before losing to Magic and Michigan State in the finals. I know everone knows that, but OHHHHHHH the stories that man could tell about Bird and how talented he truly was.
  • When did Larry Joe play professional ball in Indiana?

We should include a coach and John Wooden is from Indiana.
"You know we just don't recognize the most significant moments of our lives while they're happening. Back then I thought, well, there'll be other days. I didn't realize that that was the only day."
  • We should include awesome fictional characters with Indiana in their name. I nominate Indiana Jones.

Bird is an Indiana sports star right? I didn't see anywhere that said they had to play for an Indiana team.
