LOL that's awesome. Don't even respond and block him. He'll be outbid soon enough

He probably won't even be the winning bidder, but I would cancel his bid unless you don't mind waiting until October for his payment. IF he pays.

People I financial trouble should not be buying baseball cards. Block him for his own good
Scans of most of my Misc rookies can be found <a target=new class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://forums.collectors.com/m...y&keyword1=Non%20major">here
  • Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts.

Haha, that's great! The stupidity of people never fails to amaze me.

For example, the other day I sold a Sirius satellite radio on eBay for $38. After the auction ends, the 2nd place bidder sends me this message:

crap i can go to walmart an get it new chiper.

So in one simple sentence the bidder reveals to us that:

a)he feels I should somehow care that he was outbid

b)he is unable to form a simple 11 word sentence without misspelling one word, and

    c)he shops at Wal-Mart.

Walter hits the nail on head every time. I'd follow you on Twitter if you had an account.

A trifecta: spelling, grammar and the inability to not bid on items you cannot afford.

Sorry, but the title of the header made me think of this:

edited to put the pictures in the correct order. EVERYONE knows the pterodactyl is last.
  • Before you block, keep in mind this alternative view I'll present especially since the English from your bidder is not the best: I've encountered numerous times when selling Clemente on eBay (albeit was low grade late 60's to early 70's raw!) is you will frequently have people from Puerto Rico or with other latin heritage bidding. They may even live in the mainland US, but may still not have perfect command of the English language nor yet have mastered understanding the American culture and American etiquette so what I suggest is be patient and respectful the way you would most likely want to be treated if you were a "gringo" in their home country. I'm as white as they come but I speak and write fluent Spanish so that most certainly aided in responding to latin bidder's questions. You r bidder's note of I'll pay you next month is verrrrry "Mercadolibre-esque" - Mercadolibre is owned by eBay and is the eBay of central and South America. You dont need to be 1000% PC but just dont think you have thought about that you may be dealing with someone from a different culture.

Great viewpoint. I wouldn't be surprised if you are 100% correct.

Wow! You hit the nail on the head! He is from latin decent (judging by his eBay ID and he has a picture of himself loaded up) and I checked his bid history (21 out of 22 items were Clemente cards). He is no longer the high bidder, but I still blocked him for three reasons:

    1. As eagles33 pointed out, people in financial distress shouldn't buy baseball cards.
    2. He doesn't seem to know the market value of the item he's bidding on. So I would hate to have him over pay for an item he might not be able to afford.
    3. I don't want to wait a month to get paid image
