Does anyone know anything about this 1981 Wade Boggs Pawtucket Card?

No, not the TCMA.
I've never seen this Nabisco one. It just doesn't look right either as big corporations have "logo police" and that is a wacky use of the Nabisco logo. Anyone have any experience with this card? Thoughts?
thx!

<< <i>In all the years I followed minor league cards closely for the Standard Catalog, I never saw (or heard of) that card. I'd guess it is a much more recent fantasy designed to fleece collectors. >>
My first thought on seeing the picture (I hesitate to call it a "scan") in the auction is that it looked Photoshopped. Just doesn't look like a real card to me.

i have never seen nor could i find a Cal Ripken, Jr. which logically would be part of a 1981 minor league series of this type... even if it was issued later than '81... and there's no copyright date which is also suspicious for a "nabisco" product...
also, where are the "commons"? it's highly unlikely that a minor league series from the 80's would feature nothing but stars and hall of famers unless it was issued in the last 5 years... where's Al Chambers or Ron Kittle, for example?
all this screams fake... with all the new desktop printing capabilities these days, anybody can create just about anything.... example: those Millhouse & Cerveza cards that have appeared on ebay recently.....
there's no way that they are licensed by MLB or MLBPA or the individual players.....
Who knows, for $3 someone may have gotten lucky.
<< <i>No way Nabisco would have there logo like that either. Looks fake to me. >>
just do an ebay search of "1981 Nabisco" and you see beautiful ads and even MLB stuff. This was one of my arguments to the seller who is a cosignment seller.
The cosignment seller pulled the plug on the auction. Smart as to not to risk reputation as he has a great one of 19,000+ and 100% satisfaction. Here is most of the dialogue, read it from the bottom up...
Dear Chris,
That all makes sense to me and gives me enough concern to shut it down as I do not sell reprints or fakes. Thank you so much for your time and information, it may very well of saved me some hardships if the auction continued.

Dear davidbvintage,
Thank you for taking the time to read my note and write me back. This is what I can tell you: This card has never been listed in the "Standard Catalog for Minor League Cards" and that sent up a red flag. Next, I talked to a few minor league card collectors like myself, and no one has ever seen or heard of it before. That doesn't make sense due to the fact that Pawtucket is a AAA team, so even if the card was a giveaway for one night only or simply inserted into Nabisco products for a short time in the Pawtucket area, they would have made thousands of them. Minor league cards such as the 1986 Procards West Palm Beach Randy Johnson was limited to 3,000 sets yet it's somewhat plentiful and has been known about since it's release. It's also ironic how these suspicious cards never have a complete set with commons to go with them. Boggs wasn't a superstar in 1981 that they would only issue his card only. Also, it is of significantly poor quality in its design. That Nabisco logo would never pass "Quality Control" of a corporation as big as Nabisco. If you do an ebay search of "1981 Nabisco", there are other ad items and even MLB items with beautiful, professional printing. May I suggest that the owner submit it to PSA for grading? If it comes back legit, the owner would probably have a very valuable card capable of hitting 4 figures. My honest opinion is someone probably made it on their computer at the time the 1981 TCMA Pawtucket Boggs was skyrocketing back in the late 80's. Thanks for hearing me out and good luck to you.
Always buying Bobby Cox inserts. PM me.
I cringed the first time he turned a 5-3 to mattingly.
