Paypal question/help needed

Long story short.

I bought 3 items off a websight and sent a payment of $154 TWICE by accident, my computer was giving me problems and somehow I bought the items twice. So in my PP acount it shows 2 seperate payments of $154 for the same items, I emailed the seller and am awaiting his response. My question and worry is that I noticed the websight has not been updated since July so I fear this guy might not be working the sight or hardly checks it, ofcourse I saw the last update after I sent my payments. If by chance I dont hear back from this guy what do I do and is there anyway to get my money back?

And please I know Im an idiot for not emailing the guy first and asking if his sight was online and current inventory is up to date, Im 100% at fault and there is no fraud whatsoever.

Just curious what my options are if I dont hear back from him.

Thank You

I would contact PP right away and explain it to them. They should see the obvious mistake and credit your account.

That's a sad report on PayPal's policies. Seems to me that you should be able to cancel any purchase you make if you do it soon enough. I thought there was a 3 day "grace" period on purchases, so even if you can't prove it was some kind of computer error, you don't have to pay.

Hope it works out for you!

That doesn't make any sense - what about businesses that ship on the first or 2nd day - they'd be screwed

It does if you can speak to a human that actually cancels the transaction for you.
    Good for you.

So businesses should wait 3 days before processing orders just in case the buyers might want to cancel an order? How else would a "3 day gace period" work?

It would not surprise me to see this in the future

Ebay: Sellers are now required to ship within 48 hours
Paypal: Sellers must wait 48 hours to ship, just in case buyer changes mind
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY

IF YOU DO IT SOON ENOUGH! In the case of buyers remorse there might have to be a restocking fee. Obviously in this new day of internet selling and "one click" buying, honest mistakes like the OP's are bound to happen.

Perhaps the "three day grace" period is only for larger purchases, but I do believe that is the law here in Minnesota.

I would hope that no reputable business would try to hold you to two identical purchases made at the same time, as in the OP's example.

I'm not talking about this case. Of course he shouldn't be stuck with 2 identical purchases.

I'm only talking about the 3 day grace period you refered to for "purchases" That would be completely ridiculous. Maybe when buying a house or something like that if it's in the contract. But for everyday purchases - no way
