From the coffee lady. 1964. It's gonna be a good day image

Last time I saw one of these was when I had a summer job as a cashier, c. 1982.

Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

  • Awesome! I get a few silver nickels a year and maybe one silver dime a year but never a quarter.
  • Way to go!!! I stopped by the local credit union a few days ago asking for half dollars, she said I have 3 when she pulled them out I immediately saw that one was a 1964 and it made my day!!!

I think it happens far more than any of us would like to think. I actively search a few hundred dollars a week worth of rolls, and I have found many solid date BU rolls of (primarily) clad coinage, obviously plucked and held by a collector, and more than a few solid rolls of silver (mostly singles lately, however... been a while since I plucked a full roll). I'm always pleased to pluck 'em, but it rouses my ire a touch as well, knowing some little thief (likely) raided someone's collection. image

Hadn't the silver gone out of the Canadian dollars by then? I dunno. I know they made silver dimes up through 1968. I found a '65 Canadian dime in the till at work not long ago. Silver!

Yep. Any piece of silver, let alone a quarter, makes that morning coffee a bit sweeter, eh? WTG, Coinosaurus.

I bought a soda and some gas at the convenience store (I'm not a coffee guy) several months back, and got one. Asked the cashier if there were more in the drawer and there were. Ended up with four or five of 'em. Also all 1964, though I think one or two of mine were '64-D. >>

Yep, that happened to me man years ago. Sometimes I wish I had bought silver coins when they were cheap but on thinking, figured I wouldn't have the m now anyway.
But....I'm in again and have a good collection of around $65,000 worth silver and gold.
  • I came home after shopping the other day and took my change out and behold! A Buffalo Nickel 1937 in F+, and then awhile back I stuck a fiver in a change machine and got a silver quarter, saw it and stuck another five in and no silver.... I always label and save those special coins, for some reason they mean something to me.
