anyone else signed up for the benefits of day-before delivery notification, leave package without signature etc?

i am going to give it a whirl. i figure as long as the day-before notice comes on time then i know about when my deliveries come, i won't have to worry about missing the driver in a 5 minute window.

on the other hand, is it really worth the risk when we can just drive the ups center and pick up any packages we missed delivery for?

i'll do it trial-by-fire to see which services i prefer

I can't remember the last time a package of any importance was sent by UPS. USPS goes to a PO Box, FedEx goes to a FedEx Office for Hold at Location until I come pick it up.

I've been griping lately in another thread about UPS. For any packages from the Mint that are $300 or more, or contain gold or platinum, they will receive a comlimentary UPS 2nd Day air.

HOWEVER, they require a signature. Even with UPS "My Choice", they won't leave it.

So you must be at home, or else after 3 tries, they take it to the "local" depot, where you then have 5 days to pick it up.

That's fine and well, IF you have the luxury to be able to be at home during the day, and then IF you don't live miles & miles from their depot (oh ya, which is also only open during regular business hours)

If I wasn't able to be at home to receive your package, what makes you think I will have time during the day to pick up my package???

sorry, I'm venting again . . .

I need to call the Mint to find out what my other shipping options are . . .

one of the other options i read is to authorize delivery to another address. that may even lead to the possibility of a friend/family member signing for you
