1814/3 bust half rattler 50 at auction last night

I'm not a bust half nut, but that sure was a beautiful 1814/3, PCGS-50, Heritage auctioned last night. Put a substantial bid on it, but someone wanted it more, $2,600 plus juice.

I was watching it too, but the bids got a little crazy.

Better than AU50 details but luster looked a bit flat.

I don't know what is so special about this coin. What I can tell you is that the old rattler holdered CBHs are bringing a lot of money, and the current Heritage auction is realizing unbelievable high prices for AU and better Capped Bust Half Dollars.
