Coins used in something other than jewelry

My grandmother gave me this serving piece at least 10 years ago and I didn't notice it had a coin in it until last week. Thought you guys would appreciate it and wondered if there were other items other than jewelry that used coins as a design feature.

That's a neat piece. I've seen spoons and ashtrays with coins in them...or in the case of the ashtrays, some of them are just made of coins. I imagine that these are souvenirs. Once in a while you see a tool for crimping the edges of a pie crust made of a coin.

VERY neat piece. Pretty exceptional, I'd say. Since the Portuguese coat of arms is worked into the handle as well, I guess it's a cinch that it must have been made in Brazil or Portugal.

Kind of hard to imagine serving a slice of cake with that- it looks like it would be hard to clean!
