Heritage Winnings

Had a bidding glitch on the first day where the screen showed me as confirmed winner on a lot I was pursuing only later to find out that another bidder submitted a similar bid a bit earlier and won the lot. Whether or not there was a system glitch that is water under the bridge. I stopped bidding for other lots as I was budgeting for yesterday's Hungarian pieces.

In yesterday's auction I was eyeing two pieces, one being truly a scarcity. Bear in mind Hungarian (Kremnitz mint) pieces generally come crude compared with the Austrian counterparts for the same rulers. Inferior technology therefore strike weakness may be mistaken for wear. These dont come crisp.

Matthias Taler which I paid a lot for in absolute terms yet comparable auctions have this going for much higher in higher grades. I have one beautiful piece in my set. Described by Heritage as follows: Matthias Taler 1620-KB, Dav-3056, KM59, MS62 NGC, Kremnitz mint. Magnificent deep bluish gray toning with strong underlying luster. Coins of Matthias are scarce in all grades, and it would be expected for one this choice to command a strong bid. Matthias died in 1619, thus this Taler was struck posthumously.

The other was a very nice 1658-KB Ferdinand III Taler which priced well.
