A very well written article and another push to re-examine the values of moderns. Why do I feel I'm always about a hundred steps behind when it comes to collecting? I wonder if the likes of Papi, Pitboss, Akbeez,
CoinCrazyPA, and other members of this forum, will ever be recognized as pioneers in the collecting of the 2009p formative cent errors since they too have gone against the grain in the collecting world.
My local B & M scoffs at me when I talk or ask about them; they call them my "stupid pennies". I think in time they will realize their own ignorance. In this way I can relate to CladKing's early experiences and
resistance from the establishment. It's been 40+ years for CladKing to realize vindication for his efforts and expertise. Congrats CladKing for pulling the spotlight away from the classics momentarily and
enlightening us on modern clad coinage' value and the fun in searching out the "gems"!
When i first joined this forum a couple of years ago, Cladking was one of the first to respond to my post. I quickly learned that he had a wealth of knowledge and was willing to share it. I have never had the opportunity to meet him but i have tremendous respect for him. I have occassionally asked questions of him and he is always very helpful.
Great article! I am happy to see Sam get the recognition he deserves.
Thanks for the link; it was a great article. However, I read with dismay a comment in the article that echoes one cladking made to me years ago, namely that he has no interest in writing a book. I think we all should shun him () until he does so because such a book would be a treasure!
That was a Great read and very interesting. Congrats and get a Ghost writer as that would be a wonderful thing to have for future generations to Read........Enjoy
BOOK ! BOOK ! BOOK !! WE want a BOOK ! There is a whole new generation to entice into coin collecting. They may not be able to afford silver coins and shy away from the hobby. A good book on clad coins will help lure them in. Rare clad coins are the next hot investments but will only be so with the aid of a good book on clad coins that only you have the knowledge to write. Think about it - for Bust halves we have Overton numbers - for clad coinage we will have Petry numbers. Well worth the effort. The best person to write a good book is the person who has done the most research and thus has the most knowledge. Thanks in advance!! Bob

Cladking is the king of clads and does so without pontificating.
He is a great and enjoyable teacher.
