bitcoin hack - do e-systems affect phy PMs?

Bitcoins were hacked for $250k. Not unexpected in my thinking. I know this isn't enough to affect PM prices right now.

Just wondering how new electronic money exchange systems, and existing electronic transfer systems themselves affect physical PMs?

We are in a nation that is going more electronic-money all the time, so does one have to factor this in when investing in PMs?

Somehow, I could never justify putting very much of my security into someone else's scheme for making money off of every one of my financial transactions. Someone who is young and naive might be able to justify doing that, but I can't. Besides that, I don't appreciate being herded.
