OT Rant --- Post Office wants I.D.

I have held my P.O. Box since 1986. Got a notice in it today along with the bill for the next rent period demanding that I show them two forms of I.D.
Acceptable identification includes:
a. Valid driver's license
b. State non-driver's license
c. Armed forces or government ID
etc.
Question One: Haven't these jamokes ever heard of the Grandfather Clause?
Question Two: What the heck is a "State non-driver's license"?

Question Two: What the heck is a "State non-driver's license"? ID for a person who cannot qualify for a drivers licence.

<< <i>Question Two: What the heck is a "State non-driver's license"? >>
Most, if not all, state Department of Motor Vehicles issue official state identity cards that are similar to a drivers license but are strictly for ID purposes. Since drivers licenses are now the standard photo identification this is a service for those that can't drive or choose not to drive.

Got the same thing on my PO a while, not a big deal. I doubt they grandfather when it comes to security measures, or lack there of.
No, it is I'm just saying that is usually what they are referring to for government I.D.

P.S. A state non-driver license is really just a regular state I.D. also obtained through the DMV.

A non-drivers license is a license to be a passenger.

Agree. Considering all the troubles in the world this is a minor irritant and is very trivial.

Regulations relating to PO Box. I believe the regs for a Commercial Mail Receiving Agency are similar (see link above).
4.3.2 Verification

<< <i>Makes perfect sense. You need ID for a po box but not to vote. Bizzaro world we live in. >>
That's what I was thinking!
Anyhow, I just got my first PO box last week. I had to remind to the postal clerk that she needed to see my two IDs.
My two sons apparently don't need IDs. My wife will need them to be added.
<< <i>I would complain vigorously and go outside and picket. I mean having to show ID means you are likely being disenfranchised and they are attempting to supress your right to fully participate in the P.O. Box process.
JJ >>
How terrible that they want to confirm an identity of a box holder, picket yes. Next it will banks, airports and rental cars and insurance brokers and quite a few other places that want to confirm identity. Stop this madness now please for all our sake.

If they have a uniform, then they are "probably" employees of the Post Office.
I say, if they show two forms of ID, to prove they are the Postal Folks, I'll show you mine.

Heck yes it is . If I want to distance myself and receive
right wing literature , or adult pornography , what the
frig should they care as long as i pay my box fee!
Two forms of ID . I have a drivers license .Not in military , I have no military ID .
No passport cause I never left the country . Voters cards don't count .
Social Security card states 'Not valid for ID"
So I might show them my Cocealed Carry ID with photo ,
but that would send them into panic and ask me to leave
the premises . Just another nail in the proverbial coffin of death .
But the really bizarre thing about this is that the local post would not take the id card from this particular government agency but they would take my state DL, insurance card, and voting ID. I think that they were looking for an id with a local address.
When I asked why they wouldn't take the governmental picture id the only answer that I got was "Because that is what I told you I needed!!!"

You have a constructive trust and the new notice is a novation (innovation). You should have refused for cause the novation timely (within 3 days) and immediately made the same traditional payment for six more months on the old box.
It would have been much more convincing had you an evidence repository in place. Read the example clerk instruction carefully. You get the original presentment Refused for Cause back to the presenter with a copy of the clerk instruction and the original clerk instruction to the US clerk with a copy of the R4C for your evidence repository.
Here are some Examples. This suitor ordered the clerk to reinstate his driver license.- successfully!

<< <i>Come again??
You take the notice that you have to present ID - mark Refusal for Cause across it and return it with a copy of the clerk instruction to the US clerk of Court. You send a copy of the R4C to the clerk of court with the original clerk instruction - Dear Clerk - please file this in my evidence repository case #XXXX..."
Now the presenter, the post office inspector and attorneys know that you have Refused for Cause their presentment timely and you have a record of it in the federal courthouse. You have kept them from making changes to your contract - your constructive trust.

I guess I kinda presumed the author of the thread has some kind of problem with doing that.
There are a lot of advantages to learning effective Refusal for Cause process.

It's a leap to equate producing a valid form of ID for using a PO Box with socialism, IMO..

I equate socialism with the unintended(?) effects of the Patriot Act (a pronounced reduction of personal liberty). What part of the Patriot Act do you equate with an increase of personal liberty?

Maybe I'm just more easygoing--I just don't consider asking for a form of valid ID to rent a PO box a really big deal or an intrusion on my personal liberties...I suppose in that regard I agree with the "Really A Thread for This" group...but carry on!

The one issue I see is that it said you need 2 forms of ID and:
Acceptable identification includes:
a. Valid driver's license
b. State non-driver's license
c. Armed forces or government ID etc.
The average person has either A or B and probably not both A + B.
So they need a second piece of government ID. Assuming they weren't in the military that means they need a passport or to show their social security card. I don't know of many other government IDs that the average person has. Some people don't have passports so they're stuck to use social security cards. Social security numbers are something I'd rather not share.
