What is THE Roy Campanella card?

If you had to pick one card to represent Campanella in a collection, which would it be and why?

I'm partial to his '51 Bowman 'cause it's an action shot. Most of his cards are mug shots. '52 Bowman is nice, too.

So it seems there is wide choice with Campanella, as opposed to their being one defining card that stands out among the rest, the way the 52 Mantle does for Mantle collections, followed closely by the RC of course.

Is the Wilson Franks as notoriously rare and tough to find like the Ted Williams from that same set?

Lastly, which is the most costly across all grades-- I'd guess the 52T Hi # before doing my homework on VCP.

The '54 Wilson Franks isn't hard to find. But it is hard to find a nice one. It will actually run you about as much or a little more than the '52 Topps in the lower to mid grades. Not sure about the higher grades as they are beyond my means.

I would go for the '54 Wilson Franks or the '52 Topps. The Dormand is awesome but HARD to find. The '53 Stahl Meyer is probably his rarest and most expensive.

Another option would be his '49 Bowman. It's not as expensive as the others mentioned and is his rookie. It's a simple but a very nice looking card IMHO.

Edited to add that my favorite is his '53 Topps card. But it might not fit your collection if you are looking for THE Campy card to have. It's very common and not very expensive even in higher grades.

I always loved this card. I think it's a great action pose and I like the ballpark background. This photo is in a few Campy cards but they are either smaller or cropped tighter.

If I were choosing a mainstream card, 1949 Bowman.
