Question for the early copper collectors re: die states and how to sell (1802 S-230, pictures added

Say I found a terminal die state of a common early 19th century large cent that is a later die state than the one that Breen designated as the final die state...and it's the only one I can find something about...what would be the best way to sell that coin?

Unfortunately it's only AG but clearly identifiable as a later die state. I don't collect these so have no clue.

IMO it would be best to put it in the EAC auction.

My guess would be you will not get that much of a premium being it's only an AG coin. At least that has been my experience. I guess it would depend on which coin we are talking about. If your looking to get rid of it the best place for low grade coins is Ebay. Be sure to take close up images. Pictures can make a big difference on Ebay sometimes.

I don't have pictures yet. It's an S-230 that is a later die state (cud is larger and there is what appears to be an additional cud on the reverse) than Breen's die state X. The only sale of that variety that I could find was from the Holmes collection.

That's a very late die state of the S-230. Actually the reverse exhibits very heavy cracks and die sinking resulting in the obliterated area at 12K on the reverse. The die sinking causes obliteration of the detail including TES. This is not a CUD. The Noyes book has a photo of the reverse in the latest state. Very cool die state.
