Wax pack question 72s fb

1972 Football pack
Ok this pack is labled as a 1st series pack. It is also labled as having Gale Sayers on the front. Im ok with this.
But on the back of the pack it has #139 Super Bowl Roger Staubach!! Great 2 stars!.
But the sayers is from the 1st series and the Staubach is from the 2nd series.
Is this pack legit???????
I was under the impression that they never had mix series packs for football 72s?

I have purchased the pack off ebay to have sent to me. You are correct, I have never seen a 1972 Topps football pack with multiple series in it. I would like to get this pack in my hands so I can take a look.
I will let you know the outcome once I get it. Since you probably cant see the Sayers on top in the holder, I will have to crack it out to make sure of it. Whatever happens it will get corrected.
Thanks again! Steve
I would guess the pack is not legit, but I'm not one who has opened hundreds of boxes to make a more accurate opinion.
Thanks Steve. #1 in this area for sure!!

Well done on his part!!!
I finally got to the bottom of this pack. Topps never issued 1972 Topps football in a "mixed" series pack. Topps made them in 3 series and none of the series were ever mixed (at least as far as I have ever seen)!
So when I was alerted to this pack, I quickly bought it. My intention was to figure out the mistake I possibly made, or whatever mistake was made on the encapsulation of this pack.
The pack arrived at the office today and I quickly cracked it out of the PSA holder. I had a pretty good idea what the problem was, but wanted to see for myself. The pack DOES NOT have Gale Sayers showing on top. This pack is just
a regular series 2 pack with common players showing on both sides. The pack is 100% original and authentic, not bogus. The person who slabbed the pack just mixed it up with another pack on the invoice (pretty easy to make the mixup, since it would have been tough for someone to determine that Gale Sayers was on top!). I guess that means there is probably another 1972 Topps football pack out there marked Series 2, but actually is a series 1 pack with Gale Sayers on top!
Thanks! Steve Hart

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
