Everyone has their opinion on who the greatest offensive baseball player of all-time is...(Ruth, Mantle, Mays, etc.), but everytime I think of this topic, I always think of Hank Aaron. Yeah, he's the all-time leader in homeruns and that's what MOST people ONLY think of when they think of Hank. But, this guy did A TON more than just hits homeruns. He stole bases, he hit over .300 many times, inlcuding over .330 plenty of times. He was also a very clutch player...He's THE greatest offensive player in the history of MLB in my opinion, not to mention he was as AMAZING defensive player...(also very overlooked)...

Tha Finger ... Tha Stunner ... Tha Legend.
But, if you know the history of baseball James, who would you choose?
Tha Finger ... Tha Stunner ... Tha Legend.
Nah, I really think that Pete Rose NEEDS to be in the Hall of Fame, but they still refuse to let him in! That's BS! They shouldn't even HAVE a HOF if Pete Rose isn't in there...
BARRY BONDS WAS THE BEST ALL-AROUND PLAYER THAT EVER PLAYED.ALL THE GOLD GLOVES,MVPS,SB,HR'S,AVG
HE'S THE MOST COMPLETE PLAYER EVER.THE ONLY ONE CLOSE TO BEING THE ATHELETE BONDS IS WAS WILLIE MAYS
I'M SURE NONE OF US WAS AROUND WHEN RUTH PLAYED,BUT WATCH DOCUMENTARIES HE WAS A SLUGGER,THE BEST OF HIS TIME AND ONE OF THE BEST ALL TIME
I'LL ADMIT I DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT AARON AND HOW HE PLAYED THE GAME,BUT IN TALK CIRCLES HIS SOLE CLAIM
TO FAME WAS BREAKING RUTH'S RECORD.OTHER THAN THAT YOU JUST DON'T HERE ABOUT HIM.
IT IS JUST MY OPINION AND I'M SURE THAT THEY'RE TON OF PEOPLE HERE WHO WILL DISAGREE,BUT EVEN IF HE ONLY
HIT 45 HRS LAST YEAR HE WOULD STILL GET TO 600 HRS THIS YEAR

A bit better than Hank ... the Babe had about 4,000 less at bats than Hank, many of which he lost when he was a premier pitcher between 1915 and 1919...

The all time stats aren't bad but, then consider he missed '43, '44, '45, almost all of '52 and most of '53 while in the Marines. If you replaced those 5 years with his average year, he'd come out at the top of all but HR in a 22 year career.
It doesn't have anything to do with the above but, how about a quote:
"If I was being paid thirty-thousand dollars a year, the very least I could do was hit four-hundred." - Ted Williams
Hmmm, if only a few current players would go adhere to that...

Anyone have a Jerry Koosman rookie they'll trade away? jk
'89 Upper Deck Griffey's to the same guy when it only booked for $12 (4 of them - doh!!!). Sometimes you win, but sometimes you lose big.
to toss it inside and bean someones arse. Doink***. It's kind of like the Gretzky/Howe debate. Howe played when there was only a few teams with the best players and scoring was near impossible. Although I think Gretzky was awesome, he did put up many of his numbers
during the defenseless 80's.
Albert "spit on people" Belle
Jose "beat my wife, dive fast with gun, doing Madonna" Canseco
Steve "8 time cocaine offender" Howe
Roberto "spit in your eye" Alomar
John "the racist" Rocker
I'd say overall I'd give it to: Steve Howe - the greatest offensive player ever for me.
Peace be to my brothers,
Leon
