Definitely not EF

Ok, I am back looking at ZAR coins since its a market I used to know well. I am mainly curious as to what pricings are like these days since I haven't followed them for a while.

Anyhow this coin is listed as EF.

What grade would you give it ?

I'll give my opinion later as I don't want to influence anyone's thoughts. image

dont know the series that well but it really has a VF35 feel from here and could very well at best grade EF40...jmho.

If I were selling it, it would be as a VF.

Wow...very tough grader! I would not call it XF without seeing it in hand...but defiantely is a minimum of a high end VF. The obv. relief on those coins is a bit shallow....I think the coin has a good shot at XF!

Too much wear on the hair and beard for it to be XF imo.

I'd say VF25, as stated above, but I'd be willing to change my mind if I had the coin in hand.

I'd sell it as VF+, personally. I don't think it is EF, either, but that's not a huge stretch on the seller's part. It's a strong VF, in my opinion.

I'd call it a very nice, very low end VF.

I hope you didn't buy it because it looks cleaned to me. I vote for a body bag.

    Nice coin other wise, though.

I'm in the VF crowd too, but not cleaned.
