eBay Quandry....Anyone have this experience and can offer advice??

Gentlemen:

I haven't sold much on eBay lately, but recently sold an item for $775. The buyer paid immediately via instant payment. I Fed-Ex'd out the package (from NC to MA) on Monday of this week for delivery Tuesday. Fed-Ex called me today (Friday) to tell me that they have tried 3 times to deliver with no luck and need to either send the package back (at my cost) or have the guy come pick the package up. I found the guys contact information and called him this evening and no answer.

The package cost $66.00 to Fed Ex to him and I would suspect it will cost another $66 to have them return the package to me.

The guy had zero feedback, but all of his PayPal info is good (Confirmed Address, etc.)

I am hoping the guy has been out of town and will go pick up the package this weekend or Monday, but have yet to hear from him via email or phone.

I guess I am asking....At this point, what would you do??

If the payment cleared and is good, i would let him pick it up. You have fulfilled your end of the deal. You have done your part, its up to the horse to drink, you cant make him.

Sounds like Fed Ex is trying to double dip on shipping cost from you. Your $66 should include return delivery if the package has to be returned. USPS has never asked me to pay extra for a returned package. image

Hope you had it sent so that signature is required for him to pick up! If so, let him pick it up.

What was the urgent need to FED EX the package for $66? Did the buyer pay the original $66.
  • I don't know what I would do in your situation but it seems odd that FedEx would charge you to return it to you. Hopefully the buyer picks it up.

FYI, you could have shipped those tickets via USPS Express Mail Flat Rate Envelope, insured for $775, for $22.60.

PS - In my opinion, StubHub is a better place to sell tickets. And you would be protected with your current situation.
