Barry Bonds vs Lance Armstrong

Barry should be glad that he didn't ride a bicycle. How many drug tests did Lance pass for 7 years? France didn't strip him of this titles. We the "USA" did. I guess we don't tolerate success.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
<< <i>Passing tests isn't proof of innocence. Marion Jones never failed a drug test and later admitted she took PEDs. And before she admitted in court, she was as if not more adamant and vocal about her innocence than Armstrong.
My opinion all along is that it's simply not believable that in a sport (cycling) here PED is so common that someone could dominate the sport clean.
I remember in a live coverage Tour de France race a couple of years ago a journalist asked an injured cyclist where the first clean racer would finish the race. He said "Perhaps 35th." >>
This whole thing is even dumber than when people were surprised at baseball players.
He won on a level playing field. And as far back as I can remember, it was a given that cyclists were using peds. Apparently the guy in 35th may have been clean, but I'm not totally ready to believe even that.
I don't know much about the details, but it does seem:
1. If a player passed tests at the time that allowed them to compete, that should be good enough. I mean for all we know, everyone was doing stuff and who really won then? You have to play by the rules at the time and if someone sneaks something by, you fix it ASAP for the next year, etc. but you can't go back and change things IMO.
2. If LA were a Frenchman I really wonder if they'd be as interesting in investigating him. I really think alot of the whole thing is the French people in cycling not liking the fact that an American won. That's just my opinion.

It's not the French going after him, it's the USADA...

But Ben Johnson showed us that in the 80s

You think that Barry Bonds thinks he has something left to hide?

I'm not defending Bonds, just providing a little insight and point of reference.
During my 'down' times, I typically burn around 2,000k (give or take 100ish) for every 50 miles and average about 150 pbm. It depends on the weather, terrain, who I ride with (burn more when hot, headwind, pulling everyone / less when cooler, tailwind, in a paceline). When I ramp it up, especially when doing back-to-backs, all my numbers increase about 25%.
According to the really expensive nutritionist a friend forced me to see ( ), during peak times, I had to eat 4,500k/daily just to maintain my weight.
Again, I'm DEFINITELY NOT defending Bonds, but, it's difficult to keep weight on when you ride a bike.
The more you know!
I have no doubt that it is difficult to keep weight on when riding...drc hit on my point - I don't believe Bonds is biking the 50-60 miles a day it takes to burn the calories to shed 60 lbs....IMO, it's a convenient way to disguise the weight loss associated with ramping down from PEDs....

The dude last played in 2007. He's been looking skinny for a few years now. He's not disguising anything.

You make a great point but it wouldn't be 50-60 miles a day, only on the weekends.
For a real life example, here's a low key ride we did today. Our typical course is closed due to construction, so we did a 'city ride'. Very low average speed and lots of stopping and starting; though that did help keep my HR up. I really don't like riding city streets unsupported, since cars are a tad bigger than me, but without a nearby alternative, it is what it is.

So I only did 33 miles, at a *very* slow pace, pulled probably 90% of the time, and still burned 1,600k.
edited to add: just to reiterate, I'm not defending Bonds or trying to make excuses for his weight loss; only providing real life examples.
