Any Experience With Crossing SCD Graded Cards ???

Just looking for any experience out there with crossing SCD cards? What is the history of SCD graded cards?

Thanks!

The earliest cards graded by SCD are pretty accurate. The label should read Sports Collectors Digest, and not the company that bought them.

just crossed an old SCD 8.5 to a PSA 8, was hoping for a similar 8.5 but admittedly one corner was a little soft.

I agree with this. I have had great success with crossing, but they have always been the older, red labels.

Here are two that were previously in SCD holders

Man, Joe Morgan got a lot darker as he aged.

  • I've had good luck crossing SCD also. In general, I think most of them are accurately grading although with any crossover, you need to evaluate the card also, not just the flip.
  • Red flips good, blue flips bad.

Just cracked and submitted a 86 Jordan #57 SCD 7 RED label, I will update the thread when it comes back. I like what I hear and hope to get a 6-7 range image

Nothing but success with the original SCD labels. Mostly bumps because they were very tough on back centering. I recently crossed an 85-86 Star Jordan SCD 8.5 to a Beckett 9. I also crossed a 61-62 Fleer IA Bob Pettit SCD 7 to a PSA 8.

Not all early SCD, 'red' labels are good.

Here's some I have, that I bought on the cheap years ago, to test out
my faith in SCD grading. The result was they didn't have a clue on how to detect
a trimmed card from a legit one.

Both cards have trimmed edges that were easily detected on close examination. How SCD
missed the trim jobs I haven't a clue other than their total lack of experience in grading vintage cards.

Again, both of these cards have a trimmed edge.
I wouldn't buy an SCD graded card unless I could see it in person.
You're rolling the dice buying them online from a scan.

Obviously if you can buy the graded one's from the Larry Fritsch collection,
that would be the clear exception.

    Littletweed did very nicely too.
