Trout RC's

What is generally considered Mike Trout's best RC (incl. autographs) and non-signed RC?

His most valuable card would be his 2009 Bowman Chrome AU. However, if you need the "rookie card" logo on it, then you'd want either the 2011 Finest AU, 2011 Sterling AU, or the 2011 Bowman Chrome non-au.

Agreed... and it definitely depends on your personal preference for what a rookie card is!
A) Do you follow the old-school collector definition (IE. in most cases, his first card(s))... if so, yes, the 2009 Bowman Chrome AU is the one to have!
Do you loosely follow the post-2005 MLB & Hobby definition (IE. loosely, as in, you'll still consider auto'd variations RCs even though the Hobby Definers do not)... if so, the 2011 Bowman Sterling AU is the one to have!
C) Do you tightly follow the post-2005 MLB & Hobby definition (IE. The RC is only what Beckett/SCD/PSA/Etc. says they are)... if so, and in this case, Mike Trout does not have an official RC that is autographed... therefore, the 2011 Playoff/Panini Prime Cuts #/99 RC is the one to have!

Funny... I was saying the exact same thing about a guy named Albert Pujols back in 2003... boy, I wish I would have been right

Trout's a great player right now, but his 2009 Bowman Chrome base AU is selling raw for north of $400 right now. That's a massive hype markup.
What other player playing today has a Bowman Chrome BASE AU that sells for even half that much? No one, and Pujols doesn't count for 2001 because the print run was limited to <500.

Doesn't the Joe Mauer Bowman Chrome BASE AU usually sell for that kind of money ($300-400ish)? Strasburg still pulls $200-300, doesn't it? 2011 Harper Chrome Auto's! That's at least 3 off the top of my head... 3 times as many as "no one"... and I'm sure there are probably a few others I'm forgetting.
First card means little to me and my collection, and shiny, forced supply constraining quadruple variations do little for my hobby enthusiasm... so I own a buch of Trout RC's... but I'll like never own any of his cards from 2009 (to me, they're not RCs)

You can find these answers on Ebay past sales.
2002 Bowman Chrome Joe Mauer base AU sells for <$150.
2010 Bowman Chrome Stephen Strasberg base AU sells for <$160
You're right about the Harper though. But Harper, like Trout, is a rookie who's cards are inflated by current and extreme-hype.
If you took $1000 and used it to "invest" in some Trouts today and sold them around this time next year, you will probably not get your money back.

One can't find the answers to those questions from eBay past sales... when one's work blocks eBay Thus the questions
I'd take that bet... but I've already spent the $2000+ I've profited on Trout this year on stupid boxes & cases of 2012 product that have probably trimmed my $2000+ profit down to about $800!!!

I have no doubt that you're making money hand over fist on Trout stuff right now. It's a great time to be a seller of Trout cards.
BUT, if you're one of the BUYERS who's paying the +$400 for 2009 Bowman Chrome base AU Mike Trout cards with the intention of selling them next year or a few years down the road, then you're going to lose money.

Don't disagree with you there... the reason I've made money on Trout is because I don't touch that card... or the autographed 09 Elite's... stick to that Hobby RC's... ton's of money to be made there (now, and in the future).
2011 topps update:
ebay lot of 3 topps update trout RCs
or
2011 Bowman chrome
ebay trout Bowman Chrome RC
Feel free to buy either or both!

Great response. You are correct. These cards sell for unbelievable prices. You can buy PSA 9 Mantles for some of the Prices and I guarantee you that the mantles will be a lot better than the Trout's.
<< <i>His best "true" RC is the 2011 Bowman Sterling, hands down. >>
But for registry purposes, doesn't it have to be a card with a pop over /999? That's why I'm assuming the Bowman Chrome.

There isn't one. It's a base RC and outsells every other base Trout RC by 2, 3 times on average. That said, it probably won't be in the registry because it goes by popularity, not value.

It's cool with me. I just want to buy the right one to get signed. Is there an example of another card in that set-run that's been used as a registry rookie?

He said this back in 2012 when Trouts were at $400. They are double that now, and over a grand in a bgs 9.5.
if anyone still cares about baseball cards when he retires, it will be Topps Flagship and its continuity that people will remember

<< <i>Guys, what's going to be Trout's registry card? I'm assuming the 2011 Bowman Chrome but just wanted confirmation. Someone says they can get a card signed for me and I want to get the one that will eventually be in the Angels All Time Set, Future HOF Rookie set etc.

I wouldn't put it past the 2011 Topps Update. I would imagine PSA has to lend some credence to popularity and raw Bowman Chrome are currently selling in the $10-$15 dollar range while the Update is currently ~$40.

No doubt, the Topps Update has more of an iconic feel to it but the chromes sell for much more than $10-15 a pop. The BC version is selling for $40+ raw and the BCDP version sells for $25-30
The missing emblem is at least one that you can't just go online and find hundreds of them for sale at a time. It's a lot much more rare than the ones with the emblem.
