ebay buyer 1st!

So I sell a single ungraded card for $4.49 - the guy e-mails me asking for my address so he can send payment with a SASE.

My acution clearly said shipping $2.25. What should I do with this guy???

Um, tell him to include a little extra to cover delivery confirmation and if he is willing to do that I guess go with it. image

Or if he really is insisting on a SASE tell him he had better pay you with either cash (take $4.00 and call it a day) or a money order.

    Funny stuff though.

Wait for the SASE to arrive before shipping the card.

  • Ugh, this is why I've been co-signing everything lately... even the small auctions are a pain the butt – I think I’d rather pay the co-sign fees instead of dealing with people that can’t read and auction’s terms!

I'd respond with "Paypal only. No SASE."

If he gives you trouble, I think you can report buyers that request payment methods that you don't accept.

I sold a card awhile back and the guy wanted to pay with a money order....lol. I simply told him that he needed to pay with paypal

Tell him you will not use a sase since it will damage the card, but you will happily accept payment via mail
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY

I wouldn't do the SASE simply because the card has about a 10% chance of arriving undamaged. But a money order? I'd take money orders all day long. That's money that paypal never receives. And if the buyer is willing to wait, I can't see an issue. When ebay first started, I sent hundreds of money orders and received hundreds and it was a beautiful thing.

Do you have something against fee free money?

So am I the only one who doesn't know what a SASE is?
  • It is a $6.74 order. That is 50 cents in Paypal fees. I wouldn't waste my time going to the bank with a paper payment to save 50 cents.

That use to happen to me a lot but the buyer would ask before the auction ended. They would send their own top loader in a SASE and they would pay in cash. Many times they coated their SASE in clear shipping tape to make it stronger. I never had a problem with those type of buyers and they always left positive feedback.
