Are unopened packs addictive? * POLL *

As you may have read, I purchased 100 Historic Autographs packs to RIP when I get home in November... at an average cost of $75 each with one (1) card per pack. The average value of a HAC card is approximately $40. From a logical standpoint, these packs are very, VERY poor investments. However, several of the cards are worth several hundred to several thousand dollars each. Do our brains justify the gamble or is it simply an addiction; the love of collecting along side the hunt of the "elusive" pull?

Yeah Larry, I'm not voting because there needs to be other options.
Sure, they are somewhat addictive, but that's OK!
It's OK to drink alcohol, gamble, eat fried food, eat red meat, sleep, exercise in moderation, just don't go overboard.
Opening packs is no different.
