Ebay Free Listing? Well, I got charged for every listing that got renewed in my store.

I have an Ebay store. I had several listings renewed on August 19th and 20th. I got charged $.05 for every one. I though they were going to be free?

I think you are grandfathered in on those. You would have to re-start the listing entirely to receive the savings.

So, I have to cancel everything, and then relist? That really......... fill in the blank!

  • You can use TurboLister to do the re-listing. I agree that canceling your listings and calling ebay to ask for a refund will be a pain. Before you cancel them, use Turbolister to synchronize with your existing listings. Then do the cancels, and re-synch. Call ebay to get your refunds. And then when that is all done, go to your ended listings on TurboLister and do the re-list (but don't upload yet). When all of your cancelled listings are in your Waiting to Upload part of TurboLister, upload one of them to make sure that you aren't charged any fees. If you aren't charged insertion fees, then re-list the rest.
  • There's no reason to cancel them now. You've already paid for them and ebay won't give you a refund. The free listing period goes until the end of the year, so just wait until about an hour before your Good Til Cancelled listings are scheduled to renew and then cancel them.

Thanks for all of the advice. I will consider Turbo Lister, but right now I am not familiar with it.

One more question - I just ended a few (in bulk), and then relisted them and I got the free insertion fee. However, when I tried to relist them in bulk, it looked like I was going to be charged the $.05 insertion fee, so I didn't proceed. Can someone confirm whether or not I can relist in bulk and still get the free insertion fee or do I have to go through the main selling form? Thanks.

I think if you just relist you get charged.

In turbo lister, you can select "sell similar" from the unsold table and ebay treats it as a new item. By doing it that way, the items show up as newly listed items. Many ebay buyers browse newly listed BIN's. They'll also qualify for the discount.

I looked and I did not get charged by relisting them.

Could that be because I get so many for free anyway? Could someone confirm this? Also, if I am right and I get them for free, will I get them for free when the automatically relist next month?

If relisting won't work, what about "Sell A Similar Item"?

I relisted in bulk. No fees.

Did the fees show up in the "bulk form", but then did the refund you? Or did they not show up at all? Mine showed up in the "bulk form", so I didn't proceed.

I've called ebay before when I mis-interpreted a promotion and got fees when I listed. They've always provided a refund. You are on the phone w/ customer service for a while, so it's a pain. Up to you.

The fees show up but when you say submit it comes back and shows the amount with a line through it and has 0.00 next to it.
You would think they would make it 0.00 but I guess it scares away folks from getting it free.

The first time I said the heck with it and only did 2 or 3 to see if it was really fee. Yup, it turned out to be free.

In the end the fees did not show up. It will say like 50 auctions at $16.65 of fees and then when you hit the final submit it will cross out the $16.65 and show 0.

Thanks so much. That is the info I was wanting. Now, I will use the bulk form to relist everything.
