My National purchases (w/scans)

Had a great time (as always) at the National in Baltimore. No better time or place to talk cards than at a National and that's exactly what Matt, Bobby, Mike, Dan and I did over some tasty burgers and free-flowing beer Thursday night. Enjoyed the PSA Luncheon (Gitomer is hoot!) and the Net54 dinner (particularly the one presentation that was a polar opposite of David Hall's at the PSA Lunch earlier in the day!) Even visited the Babe Ruth Birthplace & Museum, just a few blocks from the Convention Center.

And of course there are the cards, and I was thrilled that I was able to add these to my collection:

And the two I went to Baltimore looking for:

That is one nice looking Cobb. Good pick ups.
I'm building a 1968 and a 1970 Topps set. I have lots of 1970s and 1960s to offer in trade.
  • Awesome!! Congrats on the additions and thanks for sharing.

The Cobb off the shoulder card is one my all time favorites. Great looking group of cards. Looks like a very successful National. Did you pick up all of the t206's from the same dealer?

    Love the Rice!
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

Very nice cards. Congrats. That Cobb had to cost a little more than the entrance to the show, no? LOL
    STAY HEALTHY!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

    Thanks guys.

Big80s: I got 2/3 from one dealer (the Lajoie & Waddell) and the Cobb from a local who was set-up at the show.

Doug: The Cobb was actually a great deal; I got it for $1650 and it VCPs ~$2k!

So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

    Thanx for sharing!

The Jackson super is a beauty - looks like the same photo as in his regular RC card.

Last - the Cobb - superb card for the grade.

Congratulations - sounds like you had a great time and have some good stuff to show also!
