Buffalo Nickels Complete Variety Set, Circulaton Stikes

For the Buffalo Nickels Complete Variety Set , under the 1936-D 3 1/2 Leg variety, there are PCGS numbers (93978 + 38471)

My question is why are both PGGS numbers NOT required as part of the "Complete" Buffalo Variety Set Composition?

Currently it appears you get credit to fill the slot if you have EITHER coin.?

Since this is a COMPLETE variety set, I would think that both coins should be required as part of the Set composition?

Wondering if any of the Buffalo registry set collectors have an opinion on this ?

  • Although there are two PCGS numbers, there is only one kind of 1936-D 3HL variety. For most of the Major varieties (1916 ddo, 1918/7-D, 1937-D 3L), PCGS has both an "old" number and a "new" number. I believe the new numbers came into existence when PCGS started listing Fivaz-Stanton numbers on their slabs.

    Enjoy!

Conan, coolkarma is spot on with his explanation of this situation. I'm in the Lincoln series and there are a # of duplicated coin numbers. Mel
